Whats does Swain thinks about the religion around Runeterra? Does he feel threatened by any of them?
Runeterra is a world where gods, demigods and other supernatural things are not a matter of belief but a scientific fact. The Aspects, the Freljoldian mythic animal gods, the Shuriman Ascended, the Void, the creatures of Shadow Isles and even the greatest seamonsters of The Guardian Sea all command horrific powers. To ignore them, and the cults that naturally spring up around such might, would be foolish. The deities are a force of nature, while religions are ideological and thus, political. He does not perceive them as active threats though. As far as Swain is concerned, there is a couple of big religions, which have to be kept in a ruler’s mind.
Most widely accepted faith in Runeterra are the Sun worshiping varieties, their “Faith militant” being the Solari on Targon and most of the followers being Shurimans. However this religion has barely any real organization, and can be somewhat safely ignored, though not forgotten. Especially with the re-emergence of Azir’s Shurima, this position might change drastically. For now though, it is stable.
Then there are the various cults of Void and Shadow Isles. These are not widespread, but their influence can be very dangerous. As such, Swain sees to it they are hunted down and purged within Noxus’ domain, but he has not named an official inquisition or anything at this time. They are dealt with whenever they come up. As an example, Elise’s spider cult does make sure to stay out of public eye. They are a cabal, not an open secret.
Finally there is the faith of Kindred, who are widely accepted and revered within Noxus, especially the aspect of Wolf. This religion is wielded by Noxian state as a tool, for it’s doctrines of bravery and ferocity, as well as acceptance that death is inevitable part of life one should not dread too much, fit the violent and expansionist nation.
At the end of the day however, Swain is not a religious person himself. With all the scheming and an empire to lead, the Grand General feels content to mostly leave the matters of Faith to those, who feel a deeper connection with these deities.
