the world will never know the likes of halamshiral again, not as it was in its prime, but elandhris finds that those who now work within arlathan forest have their own virtues. they are clever and free, and make the spirit’s path here easy — if it is careful.
the boy is trying to settle an artifact. the artifact is dangerous, elandhris can see that even through the warp of the veil. focus, it wills him, pulling on the threads of itself reflected in his soul. bend thyself not to frustration. let it rest, and then put thy hand back to it.

Steady hands make for steady work- something his father had taught him, though the sentiment was shared in the kitchen rather than in the forests playing with wild magic. Kieran had found the words helpful nonetheless, a reminder to work deliberately, slowing if need be rather than rush in.
He bit his lip in concentration, sensing the spirit's encouragement as he worked. He was almost there- he could feel it!- but then again, he had that feeling for a few minutes now and he was getting no closer to settling the artifact. He pulled back from poking and prodding at it, deciding to take the spirit's advice.
Steady hands make for steady work. Taking a couple breaths to steady himself- he hadn't realized he was starting to get frustrated- he reached back out once more, more deliberately this time, to find that way of settling it.
