A Lonely Path ~ Seagull
Hello again! Mine and Will's musical acheivements continue with this, a poem directly turned into a song.
It can be perceived as being about a Parisian stranger taking a liking to you, or faith, or finding yourself. I dunno.
Take a listen though. It's peppy.
A Lonely Path ~ 30/07/2012
I walked a lonely Paris path, And met a man who said ‘Hello, If you’re lost I’ll point you back, And if you’re not, then let us go To where the Autumn sun is brilliant On the fountain’s tranquil blue. I could show you something different To what the other tourists do.’ I replied; ‘You’re very kind, But I don’t even know your name. I’ve got a reservation, I’m Worried I’m already late.’ But he was still there at my shoulder As we approached the avenue I like to think if I’d been older I’d have known just what to do. Once again his housewife-mouth Babbled Paris shone like gold, To my surprise, his hand reached out And brought us two to a halt. He said ‘I don’t mean to offend, But you’re being awfully rude I could turn out to be a friend But I can’t even talk to you. But if you are a friend of Jesus Then you are not a friend of mine ‘Cause he will always come between us And I’ve heard he’s too big to fight.’ I’m ashamed I walked away, But I’m so glad he crossed my path And yet I don’t know, to this day, Whether I should cry or laugh. I would say your faith’s your business, But businesses are built to share; The office workers look like prisoners. I wish we’d been taught not to care.
