Let's just take a minute to talk about how this man, who has been hurt and broken and for 300 years has been struggling down this path for revenge that just gets darker and darker, actually smiles and brightens up when he's around Emma. I know people have addressed this a bunch of times, how when he's around her, he's a different person, how she brings out a better side of him, how he genuinely has interest in her because dammit how do you deny that glimmer in his eyes but I just had to do this. Because just look.

The man who goes by Captain Hook is an angry, wounded man who is hell bent on killing his crocodile. He doesn't care about anything else or anyone else. When he's around other people - Regina, Belle, Cora- any type of pleasantries he uses is simply a means to get him what he needs. Yet when Hook is with Emma, he puts in the time and effort to banter and flirt and read her like an open book just because he wants to. Going up the beanstalk, which Im sure is an exhausting feat, there's definitely no need to talk. But adorable annoying pirate that he is, he turns to Emma and presses her into conversation. Because from the moment she first bested him, he was intrigued by this woman. His thoughts no longer revolved solely around getting his revenge. Somethingone else had captured his attention.

For someone who's had 300 years to close himself off to the world, he sure is open around Emma. He doesn't see her as another means to his end, Emma Swan is person. A person who gets through Captain Hook, and helps Killian Jones resurface.

And the more she bests him, the more he's drawn to her. Sure he was a bit miffed after she'd left him on the beanstalk, but that's because he trusted her. This man, who had spent 300 years looking out for himself, by himself, with nothing but vengeful thoughts for company, had trusted another person. Emma Swan. And he would have betrayed evil with bitch Cora for her.
