All right, I'm opening up the Fabula Infinita box today by talking about the basics - simple world building stuff! It still looks to be a sizeable read, though, so I've dropped it under a read more section! 📕 🐌

There are multiple dimensions/planes in this universe: The Caelum, The Infernum, Mortalis and Inter Lineas.

The Caelum is more or less recognized as the heaven of this story. Inspired by works like The Divine Comedy, it is composed of various "circles" of varying rank and dominion.

The Infernum, in contrast, is basically the hell of this story. It too is composed of various "circles" of varying rank and dominion.

Mortalis is the mortal plain, living up to its name. While it truly is a blend of both Creation and Chaos in its makeup, its largest populations are comprised of mortal creatures, either born from Chaos or shaped by it in part.

Inter Lineas has been interpreted as a form of limbo. The "space in between all others," just out of reach, just out of place. It too is comprised of Creations and Chaotic entities; known for showing no discretion between either here, in fact. Simply: those who survive it do, those who don't do not.

Currently, these are the largest and most recognized planes; however, it is possible for there to be more out there!

There are two known realms of existence that apply to all dimensions: The Wake and The Dream.

The Wake lives up to its name: the realm of the waking, the living. More or less, it is simply recognized as the realm of the living.

The Dream is, in euphemism, the eternal sleep; the afterlife - inspired by Blasphemous and even going by the same name, though departing somewhat in actual design. it is a state that is highly subjective and reflective of the lives that lived before it. For one to have lived a life of charity, greed, kindness, cruelty or neutrality, they too will experience its equal reflection.

All matter of existence is ultimately dictated by two forces: Chaos and Creation.

From Chaos, life springs forth without the guidance of a Creator/Creation. Think big bang theory - literally chaos theory. All that lies outside of creationism as a concept and the Creators.

From Creation, life is brought about by Creation. It is as many religions imply that life is created rather than simply came about being; Creators are interpreted as divine figures (regardless of whether or not they are benevolent, malevolent or neither) and their Creations are recognized as having similar status.

For countless years, among the sentient populaces, it has been speculated which came first: Chaos or Creation - a classic "chicken or the egg" sort of quandary. To this day, it is unknown and may never be known by design! In this regard, it too is unknown if Chaotic entities are mutations of Creations or Creators drew inspiration from Chaos. Essentially, some like to argue (archaically) that "man" was shaped in the image of its respective "god" while in other instances, perhaps any number of "god" was inspired by "man" and shaped their creations in kind.

All living things within Fabula Infinita contain and circulate Mana.

It is what you would expect from any traditional mana system; it can be used for things interpreted as magic and divine power. It can also be manifested and exchanged in the form of faith and prayer. Often, mortal entities contain lower levels of Mana while divine entities contain higher levels. Standard fair, really!

True to its name, is a sort of force/energy that is tied to the soul itself; like energy, it cannot be created nor destroyed, only moved. In that regard, its "propagation" comes at a cost, just as its "destruction" leads to some form of rebirth. To give is to take and to take is to give, somehow, some way.

While one can be depleted of Mana, there is always a reserve: the soul itself; rich in Mana, in fact. Which is to say the true expenditure of one's Mana will ultimately result in their death, so to speak!

To Mortalis, Mana is widely recognized as a form of "faith" or "prayer" of which mortals can extend to divines for their favor. Used for both good and bad fortune. However, to the more discerning and well equipped mortal entity, it too can be used as a form of "magic" - similar to what the divines may use, which is to say: those who are educated and able may simply take matters into their own hands rather than offering their Mana to divine entities to handle a situation for them!

To The Caelum and The Infernum, where Mana is more prominent and respectively costly, this "faith" and these "prayers" are interpreted as a resource to be harvested from mortal entities (and sometimes, other divines!) The very souls of mortal entities can even be taken, if the price is steep enough! While often used to fuel their own affairs and lifestyle, in exchange for this Mana, especially if there is a surplus, some divines honor the trade by offering mortal entities their favor. Given the nature of how rich many souls are in Mana, some divines may even regard mortal entities as expendable as crops or prey and treat them in likeness. That said, touching on the concept of mortal entities taking up the practice of utilizing Mana as "magic" rather than "faith" or "prayer" is subject to being recognized as both blessed and taboo. Depends on its usage; whether or not it is "good" or "bad" "magic," as well as the cultural aspects of any mortal populace and interests of any divine entity.

Yo! Jacky here! I recently started a YouTube channel. I’ve been trying new things y’know. I’m stuck at home doing the same thing so why not I guess. Anyways, I have no idea what I’m doing but I’m trying to learn as things progress. She had been crying – once more. Silent tears had flowed down her cheeks all the way to her chin, but she hadn’t even bothered to wipe them away. There were so many.

There was nobody else to care about her tears either, or about her. She was not the valued member of a powerful house any longer, not a cherished daughter, loved sister, a treasured friend.
