the roses

they drew me in, with soft hums.

their color bled crimson, like the flesh of

my woes.

my body, curled up in their bed

begging for warmth.

but the roses, they had teeth.

and they entangled themselves, limb by limb

until my crimson laced fears,

mixed with theirs and we were one.

“poor child,” their whispers caressing my ears,

while their fangs sunk into my skin.

“no one ever told you, to never mistaken

the invitation of your demons,

as a home.”
