Broken. Bruised. Deficient. Useless. Worthless.
How have these words become less insults and more universal truths that have been carved into his very being, unable to be washed away or shed. Every day reminded of these things from classmates, teachers, strangers, neighbors, his heroes.
They don't have the right to judge him for things out of his control. He'll show them that he can be something important, that he can be a hero even if no cheers of his name will echo on streets and no pride will be found when others look upon him. But when has that ever mattered to him?
He'll save everyone he can or he'll be broken by this unfair world that cares not for people that don't shine brightly or don't fit into their empty, meaningless views.
After all, nobody will miss him if he does shatter.
