Apparently Gillian Keegan said on sky news today that "A-level results don't matter once you have a degree and work experience"- which is a spectacularly tone deaf thing to say on a results day when students aren't getting into uni because of choices made by her department.

to everyone getting either their A-level (or AS) results tomorrow i wish you all the best of luck! you’ve all done your best and i’m sure it’ll pay off big time tomorrow.
some of you may know but i didn’t have an incredible a-level experience... i applied for veterinary medicine, but due to my abysmal AS results (abysmal by vet school standards) i received four rejections and spent the majority of year 13 believing i wasn’t going to university. in may of year 13, i received an e-mail from nottingham (one of the unis i applied to for veterinary) and they told me they really liked my application and although they couldn’t offer me a place for vet med they’d still like me to apply for an alternate course through clearing. long story short, i’ve just finished my first year at uni studying an integrated masters in biochemistry and genetics with a first!
i’ll be the first to agree with you that a-levels are probably one of if not the most stressful things you’ll ever have to experience (not just results day.. just.. the entire two years) so i completely understand how you’re all feeling! as someone that’s been through a-levels, ucas, and uni first year: if any of you have any questions at all about anything (AS, A-level, resits, UCAS, clearing, uni, etc), my ask box is always open!
again: good luck to all of you! i’m super proud of you all and (if you can) just try and get an early night today! (you’ll be up at 6 checking ucas anyway)

AS Results.
I got my AS Film Studies results today... I'm pissed off for sure. After being told all year I'd achieve an A/B like I gained in my mocks and in my coursework, I got a fucking C. But sure, I passed, which means I can't be angry at all, right?

This honestly feels deeply unfair for students who never sat actual GCSEs due to Covid. Their education has been massively impacted.
Today's results will have been a real shock to the system for many, and not what they deserved.
