Hello! I have a rat who is about 1 1/2 years old and out of no where he started getting aggressive with me. Bitting me and stuff. He looks healthy and is eating. This is my first time owning a rat so I don't know what to do. He has always been aggressive around other rats but never to humans like he is now. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

If it’s a very sudden change I would recommend taking him to the vets, as sudden behavioural changes can be an indication that something is wrong. Is he more aggressive that usual with his cagemates too?

I think he’s a bit old for it to be hormonal aggression, that usually pops up at around 4-6 months and can often be fixed by neutering.

Sorry I can’t be much more help, but I’m not a vet and will usually just recommend visiting your local exotics vet.
