[ARTSY APRIL 2016] DAY 30 - ERROR
deviantART Version
Holy crap, the final image of this challenge! I’m admittedly pretty tired at this point, so it’s nice to be done! This was a really fun challenge though, and really good for experience / practice even if I wasn’t completely satisfied with every piece I made. I’m happy with my overall progress though!
I’d really like to thank the four friends who did this with me too! You guys are all rad, and I had so much fun.
Anyways, this is one of my seven personas, Inner, who represents both positive and negative aspects and is something of a polar opposite to Nihilo (who I illustrated for Day 2 - Fashion of this challenge). Her storyline (Binary Code) has a lot to do with digital / virtual / electrical / computerized-related subjects, making “Error” a really apt prompt for her.
I’d talk more in depth about her but I’m honestly exhausted so eh, maybe sometime later. There’s some more information on her Toyhouse profile though.

[ARTSY APRIL 2016] DAY 26 - CREATE
deviantART Version
On the day that you were born The angels got together And decided to create a dream come true So they sprinkled moon dust In your hair of golden starlight in your eyes of blue. -Close To You, Mirrormask
This is a depiction of this scene from Mirrormask, in how it explains how this world of light and dark was created. The world within Mirrormask is actually Helena’s dream world basically, and it’s an incredibly symbolical storyline / movie with absolutely stunning visuals. Mirrormask has long been a favorite movie of mine, and it’s the biggest inspiration for my own series, Kindaworld.
If you’re interested/curious about Mirrormask at all, I recommend checking out the trailer! For the record, I also drew one of the sphinxes from the movie for Drawlloween 2015.
In this, I actually drew Helena wearing the mirrormask itself, although it’s probably not as obvious in this image. I’m really pleased with how this turned out personally. Enjoy~!

[ARTSY APRIL 2016] DAY 24 - EDIBLE
deviantART Version
So for this prompt, I decided to illustrate my character Eater, another Inquathan from the Kindaworld series. Eater was designed for me by the user “Monsters” at Subeta in a contest I hosted in 2012; if anyone knows where to credit this user outside of Subeta I’d appreciate it if you’d let me know!
Eater is a creature made of consumed dreams and has the ability to eat / devour both dreams and nightmares (similar to the Japanese baku). However, whichever one it ends up consuming means it will cause excessive amounts of the opposite to appear (i.e. if it consumes nightmares, dreams will become more vivid for that individual; if it consumes dreams, nightmares will become more vivid). This creature therefore can bring about both harm and good.
There’s some other fun aspects to Eater but I’m pressed for time at the moment. Enjoy!

[ARTSY APRIL 2016] DAY 19 - ADVENTURE
deviantART Version
“Are you sure it’s okay to go down there?!” “It’ll be fine! Think of it like an adventure!” “W-why don’t you go first then?”
It’s just another one of those days where I don’t have as much time as I’d like / have other things to do. Anyways, this features my characters Mastiff and Waffleberg, the two main characters of the Kindaworld series! Fun fact: Waffleberg is actually quite a bit braver than Mastiff, who is currently cowering behind him; he’s more of the “voice of reason” when it comes to their quirky little duo. Mastiff’s literally just like # THIS IS ALL OF MY NOPE AT THE MOMENT, haha.
I don’t think I’ve actually drawn these two interacting that much despite the fact that they both basically go on this huge adventure together to save the Se-Nathiir Kaba from destruction via invasion of the Inquathan (most of the really intense / abstract monster characters I have). Despite how whimsical these two seem, Kindaworld is actually a very serious storyline / incredibly symbolical / one of my largest stories.
Mastiff is more capable than Waffleberg in the long run concerning physical / magical / etc. prowess, but Waffleberg is the more logical one, with Mastiff being more of an emotional creature, so they balance each other out neatly, if a little oddly. (Because really I consider both of these characters to be huge dorks. In a good way. I always use “dork” in a endearing manner lmao.)
Enjoy~!

[ARTSY APRIL 2016] DAY 10 - TRANSFORMATION
deviantART Version
NOTE: I technically finished this before the midnight deadline; uploading it has pushed it over however. I really ran short on time today.
- - -
So for Transformation, I decided to depict my character Rive, the antagonist of my storyline Daylight’s Tonight (which is the second story in the KingdomEllipsis Trilogy). DT is the storyline Ryxe - my main online alias and one of my seven personas - appears in, along with many other characters such as Ath, Saraph, Nagas, etc. All of the kitsunes within the storyline have a true / spirit form (which varies from character to character based on what their soul looks like - for example, Ryxe’s being a winged eyeball-like entity as I AM AN EYEBALL OKAY) as well as a kitsune / mortal form, like the one depicted here for Rive. The kitsune forms aren’t their real forms; it’s like a transformed / concocted mortal state instead. There are multiple kitsunes within the storyline; however, they are divided into two primary groups - Team Solar and Team Lunar. Team Solar consists of Light / Sun / Day / Fire themes, and is the villainous faction, as these themes most often represent negativity within my storylines, whereas Team Lunar consists of Dark / Moon / Night / Water related themes and represents positive themes. The reason why these themes are so heavily reversed from the norm within my storylines is due to the fact that the Solar-related themes are often much busier / aggressive / active / burning. Whereas the Lunar-related themes are often more calmful / peaceful / quiet / healing. Fire burns; water is usually soothing. The sun is made of burning gas; the ocean’s tide is ruled by the moon. The day is the time when many creatures are bustling about; the night is elegant and beautiful and serene. Really when it comes down to it, I think the primary reason Light and Dark tend to be associated with “good” and “evil” respectively is because humans are typically diurnal by nature and because our eyesight is limited in low levels of light. Which plays into “fear of the unknown” - one of the primary types of fear, because we fear what we do not understand. (Which is ultimately a survival instinct but Fear is one of those topics I could ramble on for ages because it fascinates me greatly.) Anyways! I sadly can’t really reveal a lot about Rive himself, or some of the really fun symbolism / etc. behind his design since it’s massive spoilers to the storyline. And it’s also kind of spoilery to the trilogy as a whole. Aha. But enjoy~!
