As a V&K truther, I feel this. The asks I’ve seen posted for months, saying they’re not together because a certain friend isn’t following V or Kate. Then last month, Kate’s mom followed V, then the goalpost was moved to V’s mom doesn’t follow Kate. Last week V’s mom started following Kate. Then V was being accused of being a bad gf because she couldn’t like any Unrivaled Kate related posts. Completely ignoring photo and video evidence of Kate sitting with V’s mom watching V play and same evidence of V with her mom watching Kate’s game.
Wow. I never even took it into consideration that other WBB couples other than Pazzi and Sarina had deniers as well. I'm not even a fan of theirs and yet Kate and Veronica was obvious to me months ago.
Call me a tinfoil hat wearer, but I feel like this speaks to a MUCH larger issue. Someone recently said that the fact that wlw relationships face so much disbelief is probably due to straight up homophobia (whether it is internalized or not). But I would go even further to argue that there is a very targeted and coordinated attack on wlw relationships in sports that has always existed, and it reminds me that even though we are women, we can't seem to escape the pervasive toxicity that exists within sports in general (for men and women alike). For those of y'all who weren't there, I remember the FIGHTS that used to be had over Krashlyn, Preath, etc. And it went on for YEARS. It's literally been over a decade and yet we're still going through the exact same shit. It's disappointing enough to actually bring tears to my eyes fr.
