With the latest chapter of White Brigade out in Japanese, I've been able to solidify a few theories/hypotheses/concepts about the codes that RBCs and neutrophils have.
First up, the code gives you a glimpse of their seniority, since they're assigned at birth in chronological order.
The alphabetic prefix in the front (two alphabets for RBCs, one for the neutrophils) is like a modifier for that code - it indicates the "generation", and then the numbers indicate their position in said generation.
So to say, AA5100 may have a bigger number than AE3803, but with the alphabets you can tell she's definitely a little older, but still close enough to have reasonably been in the same class/batch, with the prefix going AA, AB, AC and so on. Hence you can also tell that the age gap between them is smaller than that between AE3803 and NT4201.
On the other hand, neutrophils only use one alphabet because they just... aren't as numerous as RBCs are. And reflecting in real biology about how shortlived they are and thus quickly replaced, it would be likely that when the "counter" runs out at Z-9999 it would simply rollover and reset to A-0001.
That said, this also gives us insight to the squad. 1146 is the oldest, followed by 2048, then 2626 and then 4989.
Spoiler warning for White Brigade Chapter 19!!!
As we've come to find out, Band Cell is coded 7776, and that his new rival is 9689. We can definitely tell it was a code assigned at birth due to it being the primary record of each "student" at the bone marrow school. 9689 also lashes out at 7776 about his incompetency despite seniority, confirming that 7776 is older than 9689. On relating that implied hierachy back to the squad's, it is definitely supported since 1146 has been described as the eldest brother and 4989 the youngest.
Interestingly, it does quite make sense chronologically that 7776 was a tiny myelocyte at the time when the squad were relatively young band cells released on a left shift because of this, and that at this time 9689 would be at the point transitioning from promyelocyte to myelocyte.
Either way, it's great insight for all of you who are planning to make OCs of RBCs or WBCs
A Confirmed Bachelor (AE-3803 Scenario)
Warnings: Slight fluff.
Anonymous Request: CAW: 3803 is confused why no one hits on 1146 when she thinks he's very handsome and kind and everyone in the body seems to think he's perfect/amazing. 1146 tries to tell her it's because he either intimidates others w/his stoic unfriendly demeanor, is too passive at interactions and uncomfortable outside his comfort zone outside his circle, his musings and emotional mood swings throw them off, he's the most awkward cell alive. She still doesn't get it. -_-;

AE-3803 didn’t consider herself the most observant cell in the body. She asked questions, tried her best to stay alert and paid attention when the situation demanded it, but she never truly noticed things unless they were so obvious that everyone else knew about it or if someone pointed it out. In this situation, these factors were somewhat intertwined.
You see, she had been signing in for another work cycle with AA-5100 to accompany her. NT-4201 was assigned some time off due to injuries sustained after the most recent viral invasion, but was otherwise fine. While 5100 was directing a few fresh faces to the most recent updated map that was mounted on the wall, 3803 kept herself busy with taking note of the many oxygen canisters that she was required to deliver that day.
She had never thought about it before, but she was oddly reminded of U-1146. They were both upright, could withstand a lot of pressure, impossible to break, and there were times where 3803 was somewhat happy to carry them. Of course, 1146 was a lot better to carry and hang around with.
He was also cuter to look at… a better conversationalist…
Name something very important to you
