ray pessimistically saying none of it mattered bc in the end he was going to kill the major and the moments mean nothing and pete begging him to see that the moments do mean something and that killing takes a piece of you and saying he doesn’t want that for ray just for ray to see in the end that the moments do matter and in a single moment sacrifice his life and that sacrifice being the thing that makes pete realize none of it mattered bc he was going to kill the major……or not that none of it mattered but that it mattered so much that it made the killing worth it in his honor……..like i’m not going to be able to say anything that hasn’t already been said i’m too late to seeing the movie but the way my stomach is sick with the thought of how doomed it all was….that in his final moments ray chose to die so pete could keep living bc he had a dream of the future and wanted to help people and that meant ray giving up his dream of revenge and also the way he went out like his dad did, giving up his life and forcing his loved one to watch it happen but he was doing it out of selfless love instead of his principles and pete turning around and asking for the carbine so he could fulfill ray’s wish because he now realized what the anger ray felt from the death of his dad felt like…..this movie is so sick and fucking twisted we need to kill stephen king
