All the Books on Lise's Shelf She's Actually Read

A (nearly) comprehensive list of all the books on my bookshelves that I have actually read, with the caveats that it (a) does not...

it's long. there are 326 books on there. and this is missing about a quarter of my collection that's still tucked away at my parent's house pending more shelves. this also does not include my three short boxes of single issues of comics (many of which are complete series); it was just too much work to collate those at the moment.

might also do one of these for the unread books, but later, because this took way too long

I really, really need to finish the Gifts From the Heart series that I started months ago now as a gift for @sketchy-panda, but I'm having trouble focusing on it to get that last bit completed.

So what better way than to write something completely different to get the motor running? Someone throw me a prompt. Lovesquare only, obvi. Doesn't have to be romance, but it can be. Y'all know me.

Here we go with another starter.

"And finally," the showman said, waving his arm out in a dramatic motion as a cage was wheeled onto the stage, covered in a dark cloth. "our most prized possession...rare and beautiful. The only one you'll see north of the river."

There's a sound from inside the cage and the crowd gasps, leaning closer in anticipation.

Two of the assistants make their way through the crowd, passing out prods that they'll be encouraged to use.

The showman pauses, feeling the tension build.

He grabs the end of the cloth and pulls it free.

Another gasp, louder. The showman steps aside and allows the crowd onto the stage. Voices everywhere, reactions of awe, curiosity, disgust, they surround the cage to get a closer look, prods in hand.

Let’s suppose a situation comes up where Jim has to do first aid on Bones for a change. Does he panic a little? Does he go calm and detached and get the job done with unnerving efficiency?
