Do you ever get platonic crushes on characters? Like, I just wanna be friends with Peter. I think we would get along. 😵💫
I had never thought for one moment...that my life would change for the better..I never thought I would love anyone else...never wanted to..but...there are three people that I would destroy the multiverse for...only three..my everything...fits in my arms...
THE WAY HE SAYS SCHUMACHER:(((((((((
god bless you for that text post about blanket terms bc i didn't know how to put that feeling into words for the longest time. it's always annoyed me how people will say "poc" when referring to specific non-western people or things
no problem! it’s just something that’s been bugging me for ages, because it’s usually not something that’s done consciously or out of any desire to cause harm, but I just think it’s really unhelpful, and considering the focus on identity politics on here it makes zero sense to generalise people when talking about their oppression.
yes, all POC do theoretically share certain experiences in the west because they are seen by white people as the ‘other’ regardless of their own differences, and the experience of colonisation is similar worldwide. but other than when discussing these broad issues, I don’t think it’s appropriate to label specific people ‘POC’ when it isn’t their ‘POC-ness’ which is important to their identity, it’s their unique ethnicity/race. I’m a mixed south-east asian woman, so broadly as a person of colour I do share certain elements of oppression with, say, a middle-eastern woman, but our lived experiences are still unique. I may be a woman of colour (although I’m half white, so that in itself makes my identity more unique) but that does not mean that the way I experience my race is the same as all women of colour.
of course I will continue to say ‘POC’ when it is appropriate, but I think it’s just very important that people (specifically white people) don’t get into the habit of equating all non-white people and treating our experiences as interchangeable. diversity and multiculturalism are beautiful things and they need to be recognised. we can’t let ourselves get so bogged down in race discourse that we see things as black and white (literally) and just start re-enforcing the white/non-white binary just as much as racists do.
LOOK AT THIS! THEY'RE IN MY HOMEWORK. I CAN'T BREATHE. I AM STUDYING BY READING ABOUT RED VS BLUE. THIS IS MY LIFE.

i’d say both
