okay but dream keeping old videos of him playing bedwars with bad and punz, constantly looking back through old text messages with george, and just generally collecting pieces of history of his friendships to cherish is so sweet like he cares so much about all of the people in his life please

For Middle Kingdoms/Tale of the Five by Diane Duane.
Herewiss: Our Hero has a magical talent that requires a focus. He is the only man in a very, very long time with this magical talent and wants to use a sword. (Women with this magical talent use wooden rods, the symbolism being distaff/spindle.) The first book of the series is in part the story of his adventures in figuring out how to make a sword that will carry the magic. The "It needs to be a sword" indicates I think, the Knight class. Other points for this particular class is his loyalty and the part where he's literally going on a quest, and another part of the plot is he's going off to rescue/defend his boyfriend Freelorn. Aspect is I think a little difficult. I though Heart at first, but just now I realized that Herewiss is actually Hope. Hope that his talent doesn't die. Hope that his idea for a magical focus will work. Hope that his boyfriend doesn't get killed.
Freelorn: (Herewiss' boyfriend!) He's an exiled prince who ran from his kingdom because of a coup that prevented him from taking the thrown. He is a bit feckless! He's a little scared of the idea of taking the throne back, even though hit's a thing he needs to do, IIRC. I think I can say safely say that his Class is Heir. I am slightly torn between Aspects for Freelorn. Blood is a good fit for him, because he attracts a number of very loyal followers, and he does have the skills of a prince and possible future king. On the other hand, the reckless, feckless behavior somewhat points toward Breath. (As an example, John Egbert is pretty feckless...much like Freelorn.)
Segnbora: Ah, my girl is a mess. She's brave, smart and caring. She's also a drifter who can't concentrate on any one life-path/career or what have you. This can mostly be attributed to her traumatic backstory! Said trauma prevents her from being able to use magic--though she eventually recovers with help from her partner, the Dragon Hasai. I kind of feel that Segnbora (whose name means "standard bearer" IIRC) fits as a Maid. Aspect is again a little hard. My kneejerk pick for Aspect is Space. (Because then I'd want Hasai to be Time.) On the other hand, I kind of think Light works, because a lot of Segnbora's exploits relate to knowledge. (She literally went off to learn everything from music to swordsmanship to scholarship when she couldn't use a focus.)
Hasai: Is also a mess! I love him, but he has his own trauma that makes him something of a mess. Our boy is a solar powered dragon, whose species came from another world, and had foreknowledge of dying without being able to pass his soul on to a descendant or relative. (Because this is a thing Dragons do.) He ends up in Segnbora's head, and Adventures Happen. I kind of want to give him Time, because there's a cool sequence where Segnbora and Hasai go on a history tour of each other's memories and they're able to affect the past in some sense, or at least the memories of Hasai's ancestors? BUT Doom fits him very well, because he spent a Very Long Time being freaked out and depressed about his future death/fate. For Class, I think I would give him Seer. This is somewhat because Dragons have foreknowledge, and he knew Segnbora before he met her (and died and ended up in her head.)
Sunspark: Sunspark is a fire elemental! He became Herewiss' ally after Herewiss rescued him from a rainstorm, which was followed by a kind of wrestling contest. (Described as a "handshake with some knucklework"...which was something of a trap as Sunspark didn't bother to mention he/she/it was playing by rules more lethal than Herewiss was aware of.) I would be tempted to give him Light, because his curiosity and intelligence points in those directions. Also the attempted murder. (Hi Vriska!) However, it's a not quite a fit. Sunspark's Aspect I think is Mind. (His cheerful trickiness and sarcastic humor reminds me of Terezi...who is also murdery, come to that.) Class is a little harder to figure out. Possibly a Mage or a Witch? I lean more toward Witch. Mages seem to be chill? But Witches are not? And Sunspark has no chill, and not just because he/she/it is a fire elemental.
Eftgan: I do not have a clear idea of this character, though she's close to Segnbora and they were (are? I remember a large wedding at the end of Door into Sunset, and Eftgan may or may not have been involved, which is why I forgot how to count and originally included her in the "Five.") in a relationship. It's been a while since I read the books, so also, she isn't as clear in my mind as the others. I think she might be Life? Maybe a Rogue?
