I wanted to take a moment to talk about the incident in Georgia not too long ago.
Warning: I'll be talking about racism, hate crimes, and death
If you weren't aware, there was an attack on a spa in Georgia on Tuesday, March 16 2021, that ended in the deaths of 8 people. This included 6 Asian women, and a 21 year old suspect is in custody.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first attack against Asians and other people in the AAPI community in the United States since the start of the pandemic, but it is the most recent and one of the most violent. I don't feel confident enough in my understanding of everything that has happened against the Asian American community to further explain or give my opinion on the matter, but I did want to leave some links to websites that have more info and fundraisers to support the AAPI community.
I know I'll be waxing poetic when I say that my heart goes out to the AAPI community, so I'll leave this post here. Please be safe out there and show support for the communities that are still grappling with injustice and racism.

Anti-Asian racism is on the rise. Here are some groups and initiatives to support.
I've been trying to find the words to express how I feel about the recent Atlanta Spa shootings and growing hate against the AAPI community. I love being half Japanese, but as a fourth generation American, such a large part of our history has been lost. My father’s earliest years were during WWII. My Dad and his family were placed in the internment camps and after they were released they relocated to Chicago. He and his brother went to school and quickly stopped speaking Japanese. He was never able to learn it again. I never learned it either. I distinctly remember visiting Japan with my family. My dad was greeted in Japanese, but being so unable to speak it back that he couldn't be understood. As a kid I played dress up, putting chopsticks in my hair and wearing a Kimono a family member gifted to my mom. I remember my mom making "stir fry" dinners using my dad's rice cooker, and eating at Japanese restaurants. I loved it, but also I felt like a tourist to a part of my own race. My dad had painful memories of his childhood and he learned not to carry those with him. He didn't talk much about the past, our history or our culture, rather we enjoyed what we could experience of it in the present. I am deeply saddened by the lives lost in the Atlanta spa shooting and the rising hate and racism against the Asian community. As the Designer/Owner of Uye Surana and as an Asian American woman, I’ve decided to donate $5 from every pair of undies sold through this month to @stopaapihate a group dedicated to ending anti-Asian hate. #StopAsianHate
Anti Asian hate crimes have increased by nearly 150% in 2020, and it's getting worse in 2021.
Here are some organizations to support if you wanna help in this fight against racism:
✨ Red Canary Song
✨ Welcome To China Town
✨ Asian Mental Health Project
✨ Mermaids
✨ Asian American Federation
Stay safe and healthy loves!
Stop Asian Hate.
i don’t live in a Western country, so i haven’t experienced the racism firsthand.
but as an Asian myself, I am beyond devastated to turn on my phone and see post after post showing hateful crimes towards the Asian community.
the old people getting mercilessly thrown across the pavement, having their foreheads smudged in blood in the hands of vile, horrendous people who are the embodiment of pure hatred and vulgarity..... what a fucking disaster.
it is absolutely heartbreaking to see innocent people wailing in pain as they clutch their bleeding faces, wondering what in God’s name they had done to deserve such a fate.
how hateful does a person have to be to actively inflict pain on another based on the colour of their skin?
ITS SKIN,
ITS HUMAN,
GROW UP.
what a childish thing that the human civilisation has created... a social hierarchy based on skin tone.
whats even worse is that we aren’t even concerned about the social ladder anymore, but rather whether we’d be safe walking outside, unbeknownst to us that a racist demon lunatic is lingering around the corner waiting to call us ‘bat/dog-eating chinks’ before knocking us to the ground.
please. let us live.

So my birthday isn’t till the end of the month but since May is National mental health awareness month and Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage month, I want to ask everyone that instead of wishing me happy birthday or getting me a gift, please make donations to organizations that fight against mental illness stigma, especially in the AAPI communities........Half of all mental illness will develop around the age of 14, but most will not get diagnosed or get any treatment until it reaches to point of a crisis. Since the pandemic began in the beginning of 2020 and the rise of anti Asian sentiments leading to attacks against elders and asian women, it can become very easy to get lost to all the bad and spiral. We need to be able to look out for one another and provide help before a breaking point. Here are some links if you want to make a donation or to learn more information
