i don’t live in a Western country, so i haven’t experienced the racism firsthand.

but as an Asian myself, I am beyond devastated to turn on my phone and see post after post showing hateful crimes towards the Asian community.

the old people getting mercilessly thrown across the pavement, having their foreheads smudged in blood in the hands of vile, horrendous people who are the embodiment of pure hatred and vulgarity..... what a fucking disaster.

it is absolutely heartbreaking to see innocent people wailing in pain as they clutch their bleeding faces, wondering what in God’s name they had done to deserve such a fate.

how hateful does a person have to be to actively inflict pain on another based on the colour of their skin?

ITS SKIN,

GROW UP.

what a childish thing that the human civilisation has created... a social hierarchy based on skin tone.

whats even worse is that we aren’t even concerned about the social ladder anymore, but rather whether we’d be safe walking outside, unbeknownst to us that a racist demon lunatic is lingering around the corner waiting to call us ‘bat/dog-eating chinks’ before knocking us to the ground.

“Glad Asians are finally realizing things!!” They went straight to patronizing us like couldn’t even wait to calm themselves down 😇 Westerners need to stop thinking they’re more educated and civilized than the East. Half the shit they own wouldn’t exist without us. Most Asians of my parents’ generation are more knowledgeable about history than westerners because in-depth WORLD history was required education in their country. My parents know more history and politics in their thumbs than the average American, Brit, or Aussie. Meanwhile our American textbook only taught me ONE line of information about wars fought in the East, and the narrative was favorable to American soldiers as our heroes. No mention of all the mass r*pe and “marrying” Asian brides while occupying their land and freedom. Of white American plastic surgeons changing Asian women’s eyelids so they can look more white for American soldiers (this is how the plastic surgery boom began in S. Korea, with the white man). etc. etc.

DULUTH, Ga. (The New York Times) — It was already 1 p.m. when Randy Park tumbled out of bed one miserable March day. It had been another long night of TV and video games to distract himself from the emptiness swirling through the townhouse where his mother had once cooked meals between her shifts at a spa. He padded down the hallway, past her vacant bedroom, and nudged his younger brother, Eric, awake.

It was past time to face another day on their own.

In the immediate aftermath of the deadly shootings in the Atlanta area, the faces of Randy and Eric Park, now 22 and 21, seemed to be everywhere, their winsome images linked to a GoFundMe page established after their mother, Hyun Jung Grant, was killed. They were overwhelmed by financial donations, care packages, reporters at their door, and so many calls that Eric’s cellphone froze.

But in the months since, on the cusp of adulthood, the Park brothers have been largely left to navigate the world by themselves.

Sorrow takes many shapes after a mass shooting. Those left behind in the Atlanta area include Mario Gonzalez, whose new wife, Delaina Ashley Yaun, was a customer at Young’s Asian Massage. They include the grandchildren of Suncha Kim, who immigrated from South Korea in 1980. And they include Randy and Eric Park, whose anguish is compounded by the knowledge that their single mother was killed doing a job she disliked, part of her life that they knew little about and that kept her away from home for many hours.

“She died working for us,” Randy said. “It’s just unfair. She already didn’t have much of a life to begin with.”
