summary: you join your brother kevin on the show for an aita video, but things get… distracting when aaron won’t stop talking to you.

the camera’s already rolling when you walk in.
“and today–” kevin starts, then pauses mid-sentence, eyes flicking up, “we have a special guest.”
you’re already shaking your head. “don’t.”
he ignores you completely, turning toward the camera like this is the biggest reveal of his career. “this is my sister.”
“hi,” you say dryly, giving a small wave.
from the chair, denny leans forward immediately. “hold on, i didn't know you would be here today?”
“i didn't either.” you reply.
“nah, kevin never tells us anything,” herm adds, looking way too invested already. “he’s always keeping secrets.”
“for good reason,” kevin mutters.
from the side, zane snorts. “this is about to be messy.”
“sit down,” kevin says, pointing to the open spot on the couch. “and behave.”
of course the only open space is right between herm…
he just stares back like do it.
you sit anyway, trying to play it cool as you settle in between them.
“you good?” aaron asks quietly, leaning just slightly closer.
his voice is low. casual.
“yeah,” you say, a little too quick. “why?”
he watches you for a second, then smirks. “you looked like you were reconsidering your decision to come here.”
you huff out a laugh. “i just sat down.”
on your other side, herman leans forward, looking past you. “oh he’s already talking to her like that.”
“like what?” aaron shoots back.
“we haven’t even started,” kevin cuts in, already sounding tired. “can we focus?”
“no,” denny says immediately. “this is more interesting.”
“read the story,” you interrupt, reaching over to grab the phone from kevin before this turns into a whole thing.
your fingers brush aaron's.
you definitely feel him look at you.
“go ahead,” he says, quieter now.
you clear your throat, forcing yourself to focus.
“aita for refusing to give my sister my concert tickets after she said she deserves them more because she’s older?”
“no,” herman says instantly.
“we didn’t even hear it,” zane points out.
you keep reading, trying not to get distracted. “i bought the tickets with my own money, but now she’s saying i should give them to her because she’s had a harder week–”
he’s already looking at you.
“obviously,” you say. “you paid for them.”
he nods like you just proved something. “exactly. see? she gets it.”
“don’t team up,” kevin says immediately.
“who said we’re teaming up?” you shoot back.
“you literally just did!”
“no, we just have common sense,” you shrug.
denny leans back, grinning. “nah this is crazy, she just got here and already switched sides.”
“you did,” herm says. “you’re supposed to defend your brother.”
“that’s exactly why i won’t,” you reply.
zane lets out a quiet laugh. “yeah, she’s staying.”
“no, she’s not,” kevin mutters.
next story starts, but at some point–
you don’t even notice when–
your knee brushes against aaron’s.
you freeze for half a second.
“aita for telling my friend her boyfriend is ugly?” kevin reads.
“yes,” you and aaron say at the same time.
“okay wait,” he says, turning more toward you now. “what if he actually is though?”
“you don’t say it,” you reply. “you just think it.”
“so you’ve thought it before.”
you hesitate. “that’s not the point.”
“that’s a yes,” denny cuts in.
“you didn’t have to,” herman adds.
“you’re avoiding it,” aaron says, clearly enjoying this way too much.
kevin’s voice cuts through everything.
“…are you flirting with my little sister?”
denny actually leans back like he doesn’t want to get involved.
zane covers his mouth, trying not to laugh.
“what?” aaron says, sitting up straighter. “no.”
“don’t lie,” kevin replies.
“you’re smiling too much.”
“so now i can’t smile?” aaron shoots back. “i’m suddenly not allowed to talk to her anymore?”
“you can talk,” kevin says. “just… normally.”
you frown. “i’m still here, you know.”
both of them look at you.
“and i’m also not little,” you add. “you’re like two years older than me, kev.”
“thank you,” aaron mutters under his breath.
“don’t encourage her,” kevin snaps.
“can we continue?” zane cuts in, still half-laughing. “or are we just gonna watch this unfold?”
“no, continue,” you say quickly, looking away from aaron for the first time in a while.
but it doesn’t really help.
because now everyone’s noticed.
every time he leans just a little closer when he talks to you.
“she’s not even listening anymore,” denny says at one point.
“you’re not,” herm grins. “you’re distracted.”
“you are,” aaron says quietly.
“you didn't hear a word of that, did you?” he adds.
“okay,” kevin says loudly, clapping his hands. “we’re wrapping this up before i lose my mind.”
“good idea,” zane mutters.
everyone’s still talking over each other.
and the second the camera cuts–
“what was that?” kevin says, looking straight at you.
“you’re gonna have to be more specific,” you shrug.
he nods slightly toward the side, like come here for a second.
“i’ll be back,” you say, ignoring kevin’s stare.
“no you won’t,” he replies.
just a few steps away from the group.
“you good?” aaron asks again.
you laugh softly. “you already asked me that.”
“yeah, but now i mean it.”
“i’m good,” you say. “are you?”
he tilts his head. “depends.”
you feel your heart stutter.
he watches you for a second.
you exhale slowly, crossing your arms like that’ll somehow steady you.
“i think… maybe a little.”
“yeah,” he shrugs. “would’ve been awkward if it was one-sided.”
“i can still see you!” kevin yells from across the room.
you don’t even turn around.
“so,” he adds, glancing toward kevin before looking back at you, voice dropping slightly, “am i allowed to talk to you or…?”
you raise a brow. “depends.”
he huffs out a quiet laugh.
“guess i’ll keep doing it then.”
