Aaron is the product of a one night stand between Jack Cavanaugh and Marie O'Toole. After the sudden death of his wife and newborn son, Jack Cavanaugh found himself in Dublin trying to get away from his sorrows. Instead, in his attempt to drown out his anger and sorrow of the death of his wife, he ended up producing Aaron. Jack was never aware of his illegitimate son; however, Aaron knows learned his father was on his twenty-fifth birthday - at the funeral of the man whom he had always believed was his biological father. Despite the newly acquired knowledge, Aaron has made no attempt to make contact Jack as Marie warned Aaron that Jack was a less than reputable man who would most likely have no interest in his boy. While, in reality, Marie wasn’t wrong, her desire to keep Aaron away from his father stemmed from Marie’s shame in having an affair and becoming pregnant. Even after the death of Patrick, Marie feared Aaron’s true parentage would bring dishonor on her family. Patrick, who raised Aaron as his own, was unaware of his “son’s” true parentage even until his death.

Generally one to keep to himself, yet work to make others happy, Aaron took over running the family in on the outskirts of Dublin when his grandfather retired. Now, Aaron works from sun up to sun down keeping The Sleepin’ Cock running smoothly. There however have been long family arguments about changing the establishment’s name. Grandpa O'Toole believes in tradition and refuses to allow his grandson to tarnish the longstanding name of the family inn.

In his spare time - which is rare - Aaron attends local boxing matches. For being a smaller man, he does well in the lightweight division. While working at the inn, Aaron is nearly constantly followed by a small black goat that he’s raised since it was a kid. Chancer has been trained to deliver menus to guest - but be forewarned, she’ll want a treat in thanks. These treats are found in abundance about the Inn for guests to feed the, well, quickly fattening goat. Pretzels are Chancer’s favorite.
