✶ things i wouldve changed about the naturals 🕊️
( i ) celine should’ve there from the beginning. i hate how jlb only introduced her in the last book. she would’ve been SO entertaining and fun to read about. her natural skill is arguably the most interesting imo
( ii ) everyday i kneel at the foot of my bed weeping over the fact that we couldve gotten a morally gray / complex lacey locke :( i mourn the character she could’ve been. jlb had the opportunity to make locke one of the most interesting characters in jlb history (bonus points if she was written to be a lesbian)
( iii ) more kane darby page time. why did we get nothing. he only had appeared for about 3 seconds yet still managed to be dada of the year like ? i wanted to see him form a bond with cassie & become an actual dad to her unlike cassie’s bio dad
( iv ) this might purely be selfish on my part BUT making the books way longer and detailed. like the way jlb did with tig. i want more physical descriptions and just have more detail about the characters. why do we only have 1 canon birthday im irritated
( v ) the books being scarier and more psychologically horrific. sorry sorry sorry but not really FUCK the amount of stuff we could’ve gotten but didnt
( vi ) this might be a little unpopular but the cases felt a bit too straightforward for me. i wanted them to be more puzzle like with multiple layers & clues that connect in the most bonker of ways!!!! i mean we got a little bit of that yes,,, but not enough for me to really sink my teeth into #sorry
( vii ) seeing the naturals interact with more new people wouldve been very pleasing 2read. idc whether they became friends or rivals or forking enemies, i think it would’ve added some kewl dynamics & made the world feel a little bigger. it felt a little small to me just a teeny tiny bit. i get that they were in the middle of buttfuck quantico but i don’t care jlb could’ve written a few more teens that were in the same neighbourhood or meeting some teens in vegas or like even the frickin mall cassie and dean went to in book 1 like IDK ANYTHING.
( viii ) more descriptions of the big ahh house and the neighbourhood / surrounding area would’ve been nice 🤬. i wanted a much better sense of what their day to day environment looked like. & i still need answers about the other teens in quantico because there’s no way they were the only ones there 😭 i litcherally googled whether teenagers live in quantico and the answer was yes...... so where were they? what happened to them? what’s the excuse now? why why why
( ix ) i also wanted more naturals bonding moments that had nothing to do with a case. they’re teenagers living together and we only got like… 4? 5? fun scenes. i wanted to see them sneak out to a gas station, hang out at a park, go to a party (TOGETHER!!) i just need itttt
( x ) cassie and michael never being a thing & there no love triangle. instead it was cassie and dean and michael and lia from the start. SORRY. the love triangle just didn’t really work for me, & knowing that jlb changed her mind about the endgame after the first book makes some of the relationship development feel a bit inconsistent in hindsight. plus i hated the way lia was just tossed off to the side because michael couldn’t keep it in his pants
( xi ) sloane having a cat and michael having a dog
( xii ) we see more of judd and him disciplining the naturals like a dad 🥲 also wish we saw judd punch someone. like the directer maybe
( xiii ) i want to see full on fight scenes. doesn’t matter the context i just wanna see someone beating the living shit out of someone else. wether it be a terrible situation or a self defence situation
( xiv ) i wish sterling & briggs had felt a lot closer to the naturals on page, because even though we got some things, they still came across as kind of distant from the group (to me). obviously i get that they were being profesh and shi but like 💔 idc ur honor 💔 maybe there was a warmer relationship that existed off page, but we never really got to see it properly, and i would’ve loved more moments like : a mom/dad hug (!!!), banter, pep talks etc etc
( xv ) we get a lot more detail about cassie and dean’s lives back home, to the point where it feels like we know almost everything about them, but i wish we’d had that same depth for the others too. i wanted more insight into lia, sloane, & michaels lives outside the program, because they felt a bit less fully fleshed out in comparison, and getting that would’ve made the group feel even more rounded and complete
( xvi ) sterling and laurel bonding moments like das big sis and lil sis. i get that the book was basically over when we found out ronnie & laurel were related so this can be excused. im still upset about it tho
( xvii ) we know more about scarlett and her hypotheticals 🤒🤒🤒🤒🤒🤒🤒🥲🥲🥲🥲
( xviii ) aaron shaw and tori don’t die 💔 and they form a relationship with sloane and all the naturals. i feel so strongly about aaron & tori and we barely got any scenes with themmmmmm :( WDYM THEY BOTH DIE😭😭😭 doomed yuri if it was straight
( xix ) we know more about michael’s mom 😒😒😒😒 where is she dafuq. we know she travels alot and works with docters without boarders but thats it,,, where was she when michael was getting his ass beat? does she even care lmao
( xx ) grayson shaw and thatcher townsend dying brutal deaths
