The British Library Digitized One of the World’s Largest Books in History! Watch How They Did It!

While we cannot travel back in time to witness Dutch merchant and scholar Johannes Klencke present King Charles II with one of the largest atlases in the world, we can flip through the pages of its digitized version, thanks to the British Library.

This mammoth of a book measures nearly six feet by seven and a half feet when open, requiring the British library a few hands to maneuver it to a platform and to take high resolution photographs of its pages. 

Named after the merchant, the Klencke atlas is known as one of the best amidst the cartographic collections, a book of elaborate maps that has been a part of the royal family for 150 years, only to be opened for the public eyes in the year 2010. 

Its immense size and the brilliant compilations have amazed people back in 1660 just as it amazes people today, the Klencke atlas holding the prestigious title of ‘the world’s largest atlas’ till 2012.

 The Dutch merchant had presented it to the King in the hopes of getting a favorable trade agreement with Britain and according to Tom Harper, lead curator of antiquarian maps at the British library, the atlas has been digitized to get greater access to the extremely rare maps found inside it.

SHIELD University's Golden Angel

The devastation of the recent bombing strike within SHILED University shook the campus to its core. There’s been a great deal of destruction and death and many demands for answers and justice. However, in the face off all this darkness there shines an unsung hero of the ground. A quite literal golden beacon.

Joshua Foley (18, Sigma Kappa, pictured) proved to be an invaluable force to combat the destruction that tragic night. As a golden-coloured healing mutant he took charge of the injured, saving the lives of many students who otherwise would have succumbed to their wounds before medical help arrived.

One such student had this to say:

“I was so terrified! I knew I was dying, and then he was there, a shining ball of gold. And I just knew everything was going to be alright.”

Several others have come forward with similar stories, wanting the exploits of this extraordinary young man told. While there’s no official number, it’s been claimed he healed hundreds of victims in the course of that night.

One bystander claims Mr. Foley saved the life of resident teacher Peter Quill who appeared to have been dead mid-way through treatment. “It was a miracle how he managed to do it. A damn miracle!” We were told.

As if all that weren’t enough, witnesses report that as the SHILED Med-Team hit the scene the golden hero began issuing orders and overseeing the healing efforts throughout the campus, continuing to do in the days after within the campus med-bay.

This reporter was lucky enough to get into the med-bay and grab a few words from the hero of the attack.

“I- I just did what anyone else in my position would have done… Now please excuse me, I have patients to treat.”

Simple words that do little to describe how tirelessly hardworking this young man is. It’s comforting to know that in times as dark as these, SHIELD University really does has its own, Golden Angel.

BREAKING NEWS: STUDENT ATTACKS PROFESSOR

Newly arrived student Scott Summers has been taken into SHIELD U custody after what reports are describing as a savage attack on Professor Nathaniel Essex.

The attack came in the early hours of Saturday morning and was witnessed several students who fought to detain Summers. Moments after the incident, Summers is reported to have cried out in pain holding his head and lost consciousness.

Essex, was sent to medical and made a full recovery due to his regenerative healing abilities.

Summers is in currently held in special detainment. SHIELD University has made no further comment as of writing.

Breaking News...

President-Elect Kelly went on recorded earlier today to announce his plans to implement the beginning of a  Super and Mutant Response Division [SMRD] in reaction to the enhanced population terrorism that has been sweeping the nation since his election. The Anti-Mutant former Senator has gone on record before to speak out against the mindless violence and vigilante acts as an undermining of police authority and is making good on his promise to stop the acts dead in their tracks. He repeatedly through the speech said that this is not a target against the mutant-kind, but instead a friendly hand extended to unify the nation.

This news comes days after President-Elect Kelly and his cabinet held a meeting behind closed doors. Of those members, Bolivar Trask among others were invited to sit in alongside alleged AIM associate Adam Brashear to give their input to achieve this great peace. Sources rumor that with the SMRD, Trask Industries will also launch their government funded Sentinel project.

Libertarian Candidate Robert E. Kelly Wins Presidency.

As of three hours, ago, third party candidate and former Senator Robert E. Kelly has been elected 45th President Of The United States. Several young students may be wondering how this is possible, and what the future might hold. Luckily for them, The Aerie is here for a comprehensive look at how Libertarians got their biggest win ever. Senator Kelly first announced candidacy on July 16th, 2015, exactly one month after Donald J. Trump announced his bid for the presidency. Many political experts believed that Kelly would sweep house in the GOP primaries. However, Kelly shocked all by running as a Libertarian. Kelly was quoted as saying that he was “Disgusted” by the current state of the GOP, citing Trump leading early polls, and the apparent lack of attention on the present state of mutant affairs

Gradually, Kelly rose in the polls. His Anti-Mutant rhetoric capturing the attention of the far right, and Economic plans drawing the reluctant left. Robert seemed to have hit the glass ceiling at fourteen percent in the polls, only one percent away from being able to participate in a Presidential debate. Frustrated at being so close yet so far, Kelly began aggressively campaigning throughout the country. Many analysts claimed a miracle would be necessary to break through said ceiling by the time that the first debate happened.

Said miracle took place when a tape of Trump openly bragging about sexually abusing women with Billy Bush surfaced, jumping Kelly to a twenty percent standings in the polls. After the second debate said percentage jumped to twenty-five, tied with Trump neck and neck, leaving Clinton at the top with a solid fifty. It was at this point that people claimed that Hilary was a shoo-in for the presidency. 

At least until the FBI reopened her E-Mail investigations. IT was this bombshell that that drew the race to the closest it is ever in all of American history. Hilary: Thirty-Three. Trump: Thirty-Three. Kelly: Thirty-four. With a two percent margin of error in the polls, nobody truly knew what to expect come today.

Senator Kelly started today off strong, winning Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. What followed were back and forths between Kelly and Hillary, nearly leading Trump out of the equation. Nearly. For a good chunk of the night, Trump won state after state, thirteen in a row, in fact, leaving many fearing a Trump victory. However, what followed where the two biggest shocks in modern American history happened. Traditionally Republican Texas and Historically Democratic California both fell to Senator Kelly. This threw nearly every analysts into shock, with many comparing it the Cubs latest win in the world series. Senator Kelly went on to win the night with two hundred ninety-six electoral college votes. Hilary Clinton left with one hundred forty-eight votes, leaving Trump with a meager ninety-four.
