>> MISSION: INFILTRATE AND TERMINATE MEPHONE4
Sorry if I'm bothering you, I'm a young "writer" I want to be one but never put my work out there fully.
But what I would do for your Epic crisis is that I would look up old videos, slang, phrases and stuff like that over the Internet or ask someone that you know who was around 2016. And cringe is not an issue.
Epic does not care if he is cringey or not. So don't worry about that. I just wanted to say a few tips, okay, see ya, Bye-bye!
SIIGIHHH i know it’s the context that’s bothering me. i could conceptually write him in a silly situation easily, the issue is that im so unused to 2016 slang by now and it’s been beaten out of me by cringe culture and also like. it’s just uncomfortable in the context at times. epic is, underneath all his jokes, more than comic relief. his internal thoughts are likely a bit more serious, but i don’t know how much more serious or what level of non serious they or his dialogue need to be or what slang i can even use!!!!
fresh is easy. because there’s not only a literal translator out there to help but also because we’ve seen a lot more of him in serious/darker contexts than epic. epic just.. doesn’t have that seriousness to him most times. ive read like two comics total made by yugogeer that had him act serious and that isn’t nearly enough for me to get a full grasp on him and his character, because they’re both in similar enough contexts.
but this isn’t epic seeing demons or whatever, nor him carving out his own eye or practicing self mutilation. this is something wholly noncanon to him in the slightest, in a situation he has never canonically been in before. with most other characters in the fandom ive got reference upon reference to build off of and i don’t have issues there. epic is just. there’s nothing for these kinds of contexts at all. i have no references that could fit in these contexts, so most other references to his character just don’t work. theyre void of purpose when i can’t apply them to a situation.
UGH HES JUST. HES PAINFUL TO WRITE i like staying at least a little true to characters when writing but with him it’s so DIFFICULT
oh wow this is long. ive got some frustration about this huh
i love my laptop and i love having everything on dark mode and a low brightness all of the time but i also hate seeing my reflection so it’s kind of tormenting me
