Hello and Happy New Year! I’ve been enjoying my vacation so much because I finally have time to work on a fantasy species I’ve created! They’re called: Abali!
The Abali species have cellulose cells within their skin that photosynthesis energy and provide up to 60% of their energy needs! The cellulose gives a scaly, green appearance to parts of their body. The flowers growing on an Abali is in a mutualistic with its host: the Abali provides energy and protection while the flower produces antibodies and resistances to common rainforest diseases such as yellow fever. Flower antibodies even help Abali's digest toxic insects such as caterpillars and millipedes which make up the bulk of their dietary protein!
Abali spend most of their days basking in the light and eating sweet fruits and nuts from the trees. Rainforest macaws frequent these areas due to the presence of food, so Abali form deep bonds with the birds and use their feathers as decoration for the upper class. Precious stones such as aquamarine, citrine, and moonstone are popular decorations as well. The lower classes harvest precious stones for the upper class in order to find favor with them; this leaves the lower class with only bark and wood for their own necklaces.
That handsome man to the right is Moki, an upper class Abali thanks to the brilliant red flowers on his head. He is also the father of another well-known Abali who ran away from home many years ago, but we’ll get to him later....
Let me know what you guys think of the Abali so far! I'd love to hear your feedback and hopefully I'll be able to get that document done sometime before break ends! Questions are greatly appreciated! Love y'all!!!
