WAHH I'm so happy that people are interested in this au!! I'm still figuring things out so I only have vague info and some things I might change in the future haha XDD But I'll try to share the broad strokes of what I have right now >:)

Abandoned Charcoal AU, aka 'Abandoned Cookie is Charcoal Cookie' AU is exactly what it is :) Instead of coming from a long line of ancestors, it's just been Charcoal Cookie all this time and he's persisted to the present day 🙏

(I ended up yapping a lot so more info under the cut XD)

Instead of living through sheer force of will like Salt Cellar Cookie, Charcoal Cookis is in a weird state of being half-dead :) Or something like that XDD

I haven't actually figured out what exactly happened but I'm thinking Abandoned Cookie got caught at the tail-end of Silent Salt's attack...

He managed to be found and survive... but not crumbling that day had its consequences :) (The consequence was a weird sort of immortality fueled by the curse/the sheer amount of spirits in the area... or something like that haha)

The way EP11 and 12 play out is essentially the same :) He'd say the same things, Charcoal Cookie just has slightly different motivations and the things he says at the beginning are lies to try to get White Lily and Pastry to leave XDD Since he's Abandoned Cookie, he knows how things actually went down. But he'd rather scare people away with tales about the evil Silent Salt (it probably hurts him to vilify Silent Salt like that :")) than have them poking around and disturbing the dead.

Seeing the memories of what happened would probably bring back some trauma LOL Lots of angst opportunities in this au 🙏🙏🙏 And I will be making full use of them thats for sure LMAO

Everyone who survived the attack are long since dead or have long since left the Land of Silence, so he's been alone for a very very long time... Finding Salt Cellar down in the tomb actually alive was a true surprise for him. He figured that Salt Cellar had died a long long time ago but he just didn't want to confirm it. So while he'd be partly lying in his reasoning, his desperation to not let White Lily open the tomb would be genuine because of this. He didn't want to actually know for sure :")

Even at the end of the EPs, he wouldn't want to tell anyone that he's Abandoned Cookie... he's sort of left that behind now, which is part of why he says he comes from a long line of ancestors. If anyone manages to figure it out though... He'd come clean 🙏 He's not really hiding it in a 'no one should know' kind of way XDD

Charcoal Cookie's Family

Charcoal Cookie says his family has been taking care of the catacombs for a long, long time, that he does so because his ancestors cared about the place back when it was still thriving. So the question becomes: who's he the descendant of, who cared so deeply about the knights that they tasked themself with keeping their final resting place undisturbed?

I think the answer's staring us in the face: Abandoned Cookie, the little cookie that Salt let ride on his horse, the little cooke that refused to sell out Salt's location even when all his fellows were turning against the Knights of Kala Namak, is Charcoal's ancestor:

First off, look at them:

Same eye color, same skin color, same hair color! And it's not because they're from the Land of Silence, because the other cookies we see from there don't share all those traits: the sick cookie is a caramel brown, the knights all have varying skin tones and paler color gradients for their hair, etc., but these two are nearly identical!

Second, like I said, Abandoned Cookie loved the Knights, and he looked up to Salt a lot. Even when all the other cookies started turning on the Knights, even when the 4 rulers brought war to his doorstep and questioned him directly, he refused to betray the Knights. Even when everyone else around him abandoned solidarity for selfish reasons, he kept trusting Salt. That's the kind of loyalty that transcends generations, that has someone teaching their family how to tend to a sacred place like the Catacombs.

Third, look at the names. Charcoal Cookie? Why did they pick that, people aren't normally in the habit of eating charcoal! But what is charcoal, again? It's what's left after everything's burnt down. In that case having this family line be a line of Charcoal, a line of the remnants of a cataclysm, makes sense. If I'm right, Abandoned Cookie was in actuality a type of Charcoal cookie himself.

That being said, his name is pretty dang ironic: Abandoned Cookie might've been abandoned once, but he found a family in Salt and the Knights. Moreover, when push came to shove he didn't abandon anyone in turn, he believed in them even when the rest of the continent attacked.

And I mean, wouldn't it be poetic if the cookie who started off his life abandoned and then lost his next family tragically eventually formed his own family to take care of those who once took him in?
