Themed Birthday Party Ideas
If you are worried about the costs of throwing a birthday party for your little one and are wondering whether it is really worth it to go all out on a themed party - here are 4 reasons to convince you to:
1) Because it looks positively pretty!
I actually made a Peter Rabbit series just for the party and thought it would look great with the decor planned... but in the end we decided to change to a Sesame Street theme... because of the next reason:
2) Because your kid will love it!
She positively loves Elmo! See the affection lol. So we decided to change it to a theme she would like, rather a theme that we would like.
3) Because it’s once in a lifetime
You can plan as many birthday parties as you want for your kid, but he/ she only turns 1 once. To be honest, I do not intend to have any more parties for her. 1 year old is an age where she’s more conscious of her surroundings, at least more than at 1 month old and beyond that age, you run the risk of spoiling the child with excessive attention and toys - at least that’s my logic 😂.
4) Because it’s great for photos and memories!
As you can see later in the post... you probably can’t get the same great photo opportunities without some party decorations.
What you need for a themed party?
If you are brave enough to attempt the party decoration on your own, you can consider including the following (which were actually provided by Sprinkie Parties):
Pretty essential for taking great photos. Can add on personalised banner at the top to include baby’s name. Don’t forget the table cloth and balloons balloons balloons.
There is a one-tier or two-tier or even three-tiered option, mostly depending on how many guests you are expecting. This was to cater for about only 30 guests but we had so much left over! The top tier was actually red velvet cake and bottom tier was oreo cookie flavoured.
This was very nicely done, the cookie monster cupcakes and coloured macaroons. Of course if you want to DIY it, you can get those sesame street cookie cutters and bake a batch of cookies yourself!
The napkins, cups and plates can be also easily bought online - in fact if you go search etsy, there are a lot of available options.
We actually dressed up for the occasion, haha! Unfortunately, her dress was Peter Rabbit themed - for the original theme we wanted. But yah, just for the fun, doll up your baby for the theme!
