Over 40 years later, still my all-time favorite TV show!
speechless was a good show that i spent hours to finish watching today so im gonna yell rn bc i havent heard anyone talking about this show except for that one gifset that makes its rounds around tumblr (the how can i give these children the equal opportunity death match they desire? one)
- it works as a fun family sitcom! the chaotic dynamic is great
- jokes about disability that aren’t at the expense of the person with them! and they’re funny!
- moments (entire episodes, even) breaking down disability savior stereotypes, addressing that jj wants to talk to girls, making jokes with his aide, just. him being a guy because that’s what he is
- visual gigs with jj’s wheelchair (it’s tied to the dog at one point in an attempt to hide it from a guy evaluating the property and the dog. doesn’t move as a joke)
- the kids grow over the course of seasons! the girls are right in that second to last episode, ray grew too fast
- overarching plot points and jokes, recurring items (the bed-lifting thing jj sees in his college tour that’s in his own nyu room, the dad’s band getting back together, emma watson)
- maya getting over her rivalry with melanie and actually getting along bc they’re so similar
- jj’s love of film! that isn’t discouraged!
- that one time when everyone piles into the car for a road trip and the kids drive the car and dylan’s like ‘why do i have to be the responsible one here. ray’s off the rails and jj just wants to see the world burn’ and jj just nods smugly
- any moment of Bonding Time at the end of an episode
- jj’s parents and kenneth worrying about him leaving because they really like taking care of jj and he has to say smth about them being alright
- halloween and christmas episodes :)
- god this show is so good. please watch it for a heartfelt and funny show youll get stuck on
Priyanka Chopra to produce American comedy series on Madhuri Dixit's life
Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, who has found a foothold in Hollywood, is reportedly executive producing a comedy series about Bollywood's dancing diva Madhuri Dixit 's life for US network ABC.
According an exclusive report by variety.com, the yet untitled series is based on the real life of Madhuri, who will also executive produce the project.
The story would follow how Madhuri settles down in the suburbs of the US with her bi-cultural family and tries to bring her colourful lifestyle to an otherwise dull town.
In reality, Madhuri had taken a break from showbiz when she married Sriram Nene, who was based in US back then and shifted to Denver from Mumbai to start a family. The mother of two sons returned to showbiz around five years ago, and continues to be one of the most charming beauties in the Hindi film industry.
Sri Rao, a writer for shows like 'General Hospital: Night Shift', will pen the pilot and executive produce the series, as will Madhuri's husband.
Just last month, Madhuri had teased something new and exciting was going to be announced. "Loving downtime in the US. Back up soon with announcements. Til then enjoy," she had tweeted.
Other names attached to the project include Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper through the Mark Gordon Company (MGC), while ABC Studios will co-produce the show with MGC, reports variety.com.

Kevin Cage of @spotlightsaga reviews... The Real O'Neals (S02E14) The Real Heartbreak Airdate: February 28, 2017 @abcnetwork Ratings: 3.580 Million :: 1.10 18-49 Demo Share Score: 7.75/10 **********SPOILERS BELOW********** All season 'The Real O'Nesls' has been struggling to find the footing it seemed to have lost after a stellar first round. One of the main issues seemed to derive from the question of how to sort of split them up and set them all on their own path as well as a lack of growth in its star, Kenny (Noah Galvin). The LGBTQ community can be finicky when it comes to how they see themselves played back on television, I think the majority is open to all types, but we want to see 'types' transcended. And even if Kenny is Kenny, we still want growth. 'The Real Heartbreak' found a nice medium for all of that. Kenny kicks off the episode with his very own fantasy rendition of Roxette's 'It Must've Been Love'. First off, this was probably my favorite of Kenny's fantasies and a prime of example of why they must hit a certain emotional note to really be effective. Noah Gavin was hilarious here, he captured Kenny's heartbreak and the essence of who Kenny is in the most comedic, over-the-top, yet earnest ways we've seen yet. Seriously, great job with this entire episode, Noah. Sometimes I'm hard on you within my reviews, but you can tell that you've not only grown as an actor throughout the process of this series, but we've seen you make mistakes and own up to them in real life and I think that's something to be commended. You're turning into a real life role model and Im proud of you. The next issue the show takes on is how to exactly to split up the family and divide the storyline... Kenny's heartbreak isn't slowing anytime soon and the two other O'Neal men use him as their 'sad gay puppy' on their Valentine's Day outing. They lose track of Kenny while soaking up all the spoils from his sadness and meanwhile Eileen has a Valentine's Day crisis, ends up playing 'The Game Of Life' with Shannon and her dorky friend... Then she finally sets off on her journey to Costco (ABC & Costco must be really good friends, this is the third show this season they've used Costco as a setting). She runs into VP Murray after she has the realization that she's wasting away her chances at true love, it's cute how he listens to her and shows up to shop for the deals and they bump buggies. Talk about romantic! ❤️ Everything is tied together as the two straight O'Neal (possibly sexually fluid... Matt Shively? Jay R Ferguson? Just saying, I would) set off to track down Kenny, they use Shannon as a bit of a go-between and it gives Bebe Wood a bit of extra screen time, which is good because even though this episode is fantastic it's unfortunately Shannon-Lite... Something that they shouldn't attempt too much as she's a huge anchor for the series. They finally find the lovesick Kenny where he and Bret first met and have a famous, tender O'Neal male-bonding moment. I absolutely adore the true love these characters feel for each other, you can tell that they feel that love for each other on set too. The chemistry is real. I hate talking numbers, especially since they have been so polarizing this season, but it's a MUST here. 'The Real O'Neals' became almost a certain cancel after a rocky 2nd season creatively and it reflected in the numbers, as well as the news earlier this year that they wouldn't get a full 22-23 episode season. So seeing an episode this great and seeing how that 8:30 time slot really boosted their numbers, 27.91% in the 18-49 demo share & 22.39% in overall viewers from the last episode... Putting them at a much more comfortable 3.58 Million Viewers w/a 1.1 18-49 Demo... Seeing that, it's almost surreal. There's a lot of life in this television series, and if used correctly, it can do a lot of good. ABC wants diversity, they've got it here. They just need to make sure the correct writers are on the job and know that 9:30 isn't a good time slot for the series. Could this episode bring back 'The Real O'Neals' into renewal consideration, maybe a shortened season? Let's hope so!
Why are we not talking about the ABC sitcom Speechless?
From Wikipedia:
The series follows the DiMeo family, each with a unique personality: Maya, a take-charge British mother with a no-holds-barred attitude; her husband Jimmy, who doesn’t seem to care what others think; Dylan, their no-nonsense athletic daughter; Ray, their middle child who acts as the “brains” in the family; and their oldest son, JJ—a high schooler with cerebral palsy who has a biting wit and sense of humor. The DiMeos move frequently in an attempt to find a good educational environment for JJ. They believe they have found an optimal choice when they discover a school that prides itself on being inclusive and where JJ will have an aide to speak for him. Though they quickly find that not everything is as good as it could be, JJ enjoys having Kenneth, a well-meaning groundskeeper at the school, work as his aide.
Dude.
This show is beyond hilarious and heartwarming at the same time.
JJ is actually played by American actor Micah Fowler who has cerebral palsy. That alone is freaking amazing and is a huge feat instead of an actor pretending to have the disease. I’m gonna go on a whim and say that he is the most hilarious one in the cast, followed by his aide, Kenneth.
Kenneth is played by Cedric Yarbrough, and he’s the helpful ‘voice’ to JJ, and goes on various, crazy adventures with him.
Maya, bless her, plays the ‘protective mom’ trope for JJ, but is beyond the typical mother when it comes to her family.
Jimmy (played by John Ross Bowie or Barry Kripke from The Big Bang Theory), is the father, taking on the ‘idiot dad’ trope, of course.
Ray is the smartest, yet somehow girl-crazy and is the one who cares a lot about how other people perceive him and his family.
Dylan is the sporty, not girly-girly lone sister of the family.
I’m not going to divulge any more info because you need to truly see them in their element.
Watch it and feel all that love and laughter!
