Ottoman princesses who made intra-dynastic marriages -- requested by anon
On this day (February 8, 1830 CE {13/14 Sha'ban, 1245 AH}), Ottoman Sultan-Caliph Abdülaziz was born in the Eyüp Sarayi (Eyup Palace) in Ottoman Constantinople.
Abdülaziz was the 32nd Ottoman Sultan and the 24th Ottoman Caliph. He was the son of Ottoman Sultan-Caliph Mahmud II and succeeded his uncle & the brother of Mahmud II: Sultan-Caliph Abdülmejid I.
Abdülaziz was also the uncle of Sultan-Caliph Abdülhamid II, and was the first Ottoman Sultan (and Caliph) to visit Western Europe.
His death - now most commonly accepted as an assassination instead of reported suicide - is still viewed with much sadness, being one of the most harrowing deaths in the history of Ottoman Sultans.
