Hi all, Abdul is trying to get enough money together to celebrate Christmas with him and a group of around 30 other refugees. Last year we raised a substantial amount for him and this year I'm struggling to work so I'd appreciate any help! I'll update this as we go and will also update with any amount I give. Thank you!

Abdul still needs your support

Many of you may be familiar with @queersudan from @thee-dai-katana's tireless advocacy. Abdul represents and fundraises for his LGBTQ refugee community, and he has reached out to me with an update. Many people in the community are without food, and there are hospital debts owed and still accruing for those receiving treatment for HIV and other illnesses. Please show up for your queer siblings, help them stay fed and healthy. We have to be here for each other, however we are able.

Abdul sent me an estimate on the monthly necessities his group needs to fundraise. If we could have donations mostly cover this every month, it'd mean that my money could support him more through emergencies. In the past I've been supporting them for stuff like rent and food on my own and then fundraising for emergencies but it's more stable to try it the other way around, because that would mean I could save up more for emergencies and wouldn't have to try to scrape together the money in a very short time frame.

there's also an added issue this month, Abduls phone has been acting up and he needs a new one. A new one costs $550, so I've added that onto the goal for this month. I'll also add any money I send him to the goal here just to be clear.

Just got off the phone with Abdul & his colleagues. They're very grateful for everyone's help, but 2 of their friends need serious psychiatric help, which is not easy to find where they are. they've estimated it would cost about 650 per person, and they'd need to be transported to Kenya to receive the help. Any amount would be appreciated, seriously!

I'll update this with any amount I give in the future as well, thank you!

Hi y'all, dire news from Abdul. The short of it is that the queer refugees are being kicked out of the camp by the local government and desperately need advocacy and support.

There's really nowhere for them to go and the UNHCR isn't helping at all despite a lot of them being very far along in the resettlement process and meant to be heading for other countries.

Please continue to donate and advocate. Abdul just got out of the hospital due to the reoccurring issue with stomach ulcers and is very weak right now.

He's also asking for help amplifying his and the other queer refugees voices. If there's anyone who is in contact with an embassy and can help them appeal for resettlement it'd be appreciated. But otherwise, they just need continued support.

reminder that this fund isn't just for Abdul but for the hundreds of queer refugees he's helping to support!
