Hetalia fans.

If we somehow manage to get new, young fans after this new season we have to make sure that they do not turn out the old fandom. We need to make a genuine effort to prevent racism and homophobia (and other forms of bigotry) in the fandom. We cannot ever let the fandom get to the state it was in before.

Any form of bigotry is unacceptable and absolutely vile and should not be accepted in the fandom.

I had way too much time on my hands and I was getting bored being cooped up in my house. So, I downloaded a random Japanese dating game that popped up on the App Store. However, I have now become emotionally invested and it is starting to take over my life. In light of this, I will be updating my fandom lists and if there’s any characters/fandoms you guys want me to add just send a request.

How do you want new fans not to be bigoted in a fandom that is literally partially about romantizing the axis powers

There is literally no point in me trying to change your opinion cus it’s obviously already set in stone but I will say that the show ( after season 2) is barely even about the axis and the war and is instead just the characters doing stupid shit. The show doesn’t even romanticise anything, that was the old fandom that I’m saying we need to move on from

Most of the people in the fandom don’t really care that much about the actual show (especially the first two seasons which are pretty disliked) but like the characters and the human country premise.

a lot of pol still think Korea banned hetalia because of the portrayal but no, it was banned because Japan’s ignoring and erasure of them turning us women into slaves, their genocide on us, their horrible experiments on us, etc. please PLEASE don’t let people downplay and excuse what theyve done to us, and don’t support the rising sun flag or imperial japan.

I don’t know much about the ban tbh but I’ll share it so people who do can comment and so people will see the message.

I do obviously object to any romanticised portrayals of imperial japan and the horrific actions of the government during this period of history and will do my best to prevent people from doing that ever again. It will take a community effort tho.

no it actually did ban it because of the potrayal of south korea, and sk was taken out of the anime. Hima actually improved south korea a lot after wards and took out some of the iffy jokes. Also the rising sun does not show up in hetalia and imperal japan is actually touched upon in one of the comics which was taken out of the anime where japan stabs china and china is shown as the sympathetic one

I think the imperial Japan thing was aimed at fans cus I vividly remember fan art with the rising sun on it along with the n@zi art. The fandom definitely did have a problem with romanticising horrific time periods.

However, as I said, I know barley know anything about the ban so I can’t really comment.
