I just wanted to say that I've really been appreciating seeing your posts on the Phantom of the Opera!! Idk they're really refreshing to see posts disconnected from the fandom side of it all (and it's great to see someone actually appreciating Raoul's character instead of hating on him like I see most people do, especially since he's my favorite. And appreciating him being Catholic! An aspect of him I try to do justice to whenever I write about him!)

Honestly, I think it's about time I re-read the book!! (I only recently read it for the first time and have been already wanting to reread it, and your posts might be the push I needed!!)

The Phandom side of things has colored my opinion of the story for so long that it was fun to return to the book and the musical with fresh eyes and just appreciate what's actually there instead of what pop culture assumes that it is.

It's been very fun seeing your interactions on my post! It's fun to see someone who loves the original novel, and appreciates Raoul and his Catholicism. (I'm interested in the implication that you write fics including such things). If you do reread, I hope you have fun!

She looked down at her clean hands and wondered if the blood she felt would ever go away. (x)

"I'm getting you to the hospital. I would hate to have you bleed out in front of me."

"Whose blood is this?" (x)

Blood was dripping down the side of her face, but she didn't care. She was like a wild animal, ready to catch her prey.

"Why do you show up at my house, bleeding?"

"I'm bleeding every month, I think I can handle a little blood."

Family had everything to do with acceptance and nothing to do with blood. (x)

"If you’d be a dear and not get any blood on my new outfit, that would be highly appreciated." (x)

"When were you going to tell me that you're bleeding? When you're already dead?!"

"It's just a scratch." "A scratch that is ruining all your clothes right now."

"Your blood... it doesn't taste human."

The overwhelming smell of blood almost made him throw up.

"How much blood is it?" "Too much."

"There is blood on your hands now too. Welcome to the club."

As a crime scene cleaner, cleaning up blood was the least of her troubles.

Okay this isn't gonna be another snippet BUT it is going to be a spoiler for this chapter, sooo...

I'm heavily considering having the latter half of the chapter to be in McKenna's pov. It depends on where I end up with in the story as I'm writing it but I think I want to give her a moment to say her piece. My commenters said she did Not pass the initial vibe check and I've been screaming inside like give her a minute!!

To her credit she is in a really crappy situation here and it kinda pigeonholes her into being a certain type of character but we're going trope-rogue with this one baby!

(I said it in an earlier post's tags but I said I wished I could write less niche art but I take it back. My art deserves to be created even if it is niche and maybe someday someone will come along and Get It, and get me, and that's more special than a million kudos.)
