Tumblr/apple when they see an autistic person stimming
people will literally read a story where someone subjects a child to the most horrific abuse & neglect imaginable and still go “yes but have you considered…… that the child was autistic and therefore the mother deserves understanding and support….. perhaps you… are the ones being harmful and intolerant… dealing with meltdowns can be so hard…. only autism moms truly understand…”
me: maybe I should try looking up some writing advice, I’m a little stuck --
me: nope
[ID: Black text over white that reads, “#1: Minor Flaw. This is a flaw that serves to distinguish a character in readers’ minds but doesn’t impact the story in any major way. Examples of a minor flaw include: a disability that requires the character to use a wheelchair; a bilingual character’s tendency to misuse words in their non-native tongue.” /End ID]
Nathaniel Julius, who had Down's syndrome, was out to buy biscuits when he got shot, his family says.
anyways i would suggest everyone block @radcybergoth, a disgusting terf who thinks she can/should become a psychiatrist despite being transphobic AND ableist against those with psychosis. honestly.. the terf ableism really never ends, does it?
deadfoot is proof that disabled cats can rise to power and thinking otherwise . . .eh, kinda ableist. those jaystar aus are valid. briarlight, longtail, snowkit? all coulda been leaders of tundyclam
I do understand that this site is not a monolith but. On the autism website??
I've seen this reblogged a few times today, and social skills are...hard?
A big component of my job is writing emails, and while I was able to formulize it in my head, that's not something everyone can do. And I had the privilege and education and mentoring to teach me how to professionally write emails.
Especially in tense situations with hostile coworkers or clients or managers looking for an excuse to fire you, or requesting accommodations - an email being perfect or not can unfortunately be heavily impactful on your day-to-day life.
I don't think people are using AI for every single email, but even if they were...so??? We all know education is a privilege and everyone does not get equal access (at least in the US).
Tone is also something that has to be learned. People aren't born writing emails. Some phrases or ways of writing are looked down upon or seen as less-than.
I used chatgpt a handful of times about a year ago and never since, almost because the only thing it could reliably do was write and rewrite emails with instructions on tone. If nothing else, it is a tool for learning. But also, I sometimes will spend 15 minutes to half an hour (or more!) writing and rewriting an email because it didn't sound right. When I used chatgpt, I was able to find something I liked within 5 minutes.
Should people like me really have to spend our time manually writing and rewriting emails when there is a tool that can help?
I am open to valid criticisms of AI, but "we should make fun of people for not having a skill" is not one of them.
