Oh hey. Remember that hockey fic that I wrote last year? And its companion piece? Well, Imrrick week finally motivated me to dust off the final drafted chapter for that piece. So we're officially marking that fic as completed.

We sit there in perfect silence as the night grows deeper. The stars have come out and completely dotted the sky when I sense her breathing go deep, even. "Violence?" I whisper. No response. I shift carefully in order to see her face - she's fallen asleep. A ridiculous grin breaks out on my face. Violet Sorrengail feels comfortable enough to fall asleep in my arms. I know I should wake her - really, I do - but like fuck I'm squandering this gift. The gods rarely smile on me so when they do, I take full advantage of the moment.

This fucking woman. Does she not realize how rare she is? I know I grew up a rich kid who could have basically anything I ever wanted. Dad did a good job keeping me grounded and not TOO spoiled, but I've never had someone new to me care about my preferences like this. Cat certainly fucking didn't. I let her order for me exactly once ... and it was the most pretentious piece of shit thing I've ever choked down. But for Violet to sacrifice, take something she doesn't or might not particularly like, just so I can have what I like too? My heart does another fucking backflip inside my chest. Fuck, the thing might be doing the godsdamned butterfly stroke in there.

Violet Sorrengail is also in poetry this semester. How did I miss her the first day? I mean, I'm a minute or two later than I usually am to class today, but still. I spy that silvery-tipped hair - braided up into a crown, probably because she's not on the ice today - sitting at a desk near the front of the room, right by a window. The seat behind her is open and I have no control over my feet as I head to it. Fucking feet. Also, fucking brain for knowing her fucking hairstyles based on if there's ice time or not.
