any unsuspecting nobody would have written the whole scene off as witty banter between friends, but something didn't quite sit right within the merman's spirit about the scene before him. it certainly didn't fill his heart up with any warmth, watching the two women before him make passive remarks towards each other while their friendship group around them laughed as if it were a continued game, only one or two them having enough mind to furrow their brows in nervous confusion. surely, these main two women did not like each other and surely their friendship group weren't completely convinced that they did either. why was this group even together — on his favorite beach spot? it was the creatures who lived above the sea that puzzled jesse the most. the wet sand stuck to his skin as he paced along the edge of the sealine. an idea suddenly struct him — a social experiment of sorts — and so he silently fell onto his knees, then facefirst into the sand. the edge of the sea tickled at his right side, enclosing closer and closer as if it would surely engulf him. if they were going to make things fucking awkward, then why not contribute to that energy?
