Next Step, We Burn It Down.

A close friend passed away this week. Honestly, I still don't believe it. Karen was fearless, she introduced me to prison abolition organizing during the strike camp out. She always said she didn't want a funeral, instead requested an uprising against the FDOC. Today, she got exactly that.

During todays action three of our friends were captured outside of Florida State Prison, a memorial event for our lost comrade Karen Smith. 🚩🏴

it’s as if these decrim movements are just superficial changes that only protect the wealth and class of a few and still make profits for deadly systems and keep those in power right there, to cash in their winnings. hmmm it’s as if that when we invite the killers to the discussion, instead of holding them accountable, we don’t get the change we are all praying and some/many are dying for. if your decrim movement isn’t addressing the systemic harm of (new) Jim Crow era violence and the for profit prison industry - its a farce and cloaked in colonialism and white supremacy. no, that decriminalization movement it’s enough and it’s not ok anymore to let it just pass. justice for all the stolen lives taken by police and the state. For all those disappeared. to all the ones in solitary, to all the moms having to give birth cuffed to a bed, to all the prisoners inside for just being poor, and/or having melanin rich skin, to all our political prisoners locked up for fighting for us. we see you.
