Using fragrantica to give a profile to my muses’ scents pt 1: witches and weirdos
If you were a Deity, what would you be the God of?
Auri
warfare and strategy
prideful and ambitious, your followers come to you for guidance and luck in battles they feel are too much for them. you embody the bravery and bloodlust of warfare and the battle intelligence for strategy and leadership. Your patience tends to thin around those who don’t respect you or question your intelligence and strength.
Alexei
trickery and mischief
twisted and playful, you view humans as nothing more than mere toys or puppets. people provide you with offerings and keep their heads down so as to not upset you. you’re expressive and dramatic, though often lying and quite skilled at manipulation and illusion.
Damon
labyrinths and confusion
a god for the lost souls. you can often find makeshift altars for you deep in forests, cave systems, and other uncharted territories. you guide those lost back onto the path. the souls of those who disrespect you are lost forever, trapped in a winding labyrinth, never to leave or see sunlight again.
What kind of villain are you?
calmly evil
you chose your path fully aware of what it entails. you're the suave villain, unflappable, smooth as silk. you're capable of cruelty without breaking your facade, and live with the consequences without hesitation. when you die, you're surprised. through all of your planning and posturing, you had forgotten that you too were mortal. but even as life slips through your fingers, you manage that smile. that same smile.
The Luck Family (Siblings) group chat is blowing up for sure tonight
Also a handful of other gods/demigods are being given updates because Aurelius is a messy bitch
Headcanon: Auri and the curse on Carey
There are a lot of factors that played into the village of Carey, Ohio being downright haunted. Adaru and Fortuna’s uncommon fascination with the town, an asylum where inmates were inhumanely tortured, and a MASSIVE graveyard all have a part to play... but a more unusual source is a curse brought over from France... and Carey’s sister city: Carae.
In the 1200s, Aurelius took up a residence in Carae. He actually had a fairly normal life for a while, at least longer than he typically did in towns. He was fairly well liked. That was, until one of the residents of the village found him snacking on someone. The kill had actually been something of vigilante justice, as the man had doing some horrid things in the name of the Christian god, but the townspeople hardly saw it as that. Seeing him as a demon from Hell, they attempted to burn him at the stake. However, he didn’t burn; he could feel the pain, yet he survived. Cut from his bonds and let fall onto the cobblestone, he was about to be taken to another form of execution, but the village stopped before he did. He cursed the entire town and its descendants in his pain, and ran from the village as soon as he was able to stand.
A few of the descendants of the now dead village of Carae (due to being usurped into other villages to make larger towns) found their way to the Americas, they and were the ones that named the little Ohio town Carey, after their home village. With the name and their children in the town, another layer of chaos was added to the area from Aurelius’ still persistent curse, leaving even more reason why the town is such an anomaly and suffering so greatly.
Antonia and Aurelius
Okay I’ve always had complicated feelings about how these two would interact. It’s not particularly canon, but I’ve always kinda assumed that Lady Luck and Fear have a very love/hate relationship. I’ve described this interpretation to some people before that I believe they like besting each other. Some centuries they actually are more friendly than others, some they nearly want to kill each other... but like Sherlock and Professor Moriarity (canonical Baccanoud btw!), what would one be without the other?
This continues in with their kids, but even more severely. They are essentially set up to hate each other, Antonia mostly influenced by Fear, and Auri simply because he really dislikes fear. These two actually have made attempts to kill each other before, but to be fair Auri has survived multiple attempts on his life, so neither of them should get points docked for inefficiency. On the other side, they can get along pretty well once in a while. I sincerely believe they spent most of the 1940s together as a pair, possibly (read: definitely) romantically, but there was almost certainly an ugly fight/break up that may or may not have been rigged by Fortuna or Adaru. Because, you know, why let your kids be happy when they can be used?
Since then, whenever they meet, it’s like bitter exes that aren’t completely over each other. Frankly, neither had any experience with a previous lover that stayed long after their breakup since Antonia mostly killed past lovers/husbands (shes had several) and Aurelius is so nomadic and long lived he’d never see them again after. So, to them, this is the person they could reconcile with if they wanted. This can manifest in anger and violence, playful flirting/banter, or even a more platonic dynamic depending on the time. It’s really sort of a roulette wheel to see what happens. But they’ve never officially tried again. They do like fucking up Fortuna’s games together on occasion and are capable of working together sometimes, but it can get messy.
This is not to say Auri/Antonia is endgame. I would venture to say that in most verses, it isn’t. I’m some aus or verses, I could mention them being together, but it’s few times that would be the case. They aren’t each other’s best ending, and both can significantly grow from their relationship and seriously commit to other people. It’s probably best they do. But this dynamic is important for them. They see each other as the only one that’s truly like them, and in that end, they do feel a connection, even after all this time. Them eventually putting what they had aside and truly becoming friends would be healthy for them, but it maybe hard with the influence of their parents.
Antonia: You know, it's nice of you to finally take me out on a fancy date.
Aurelius: Date? *laughs* Oh no. This is just a place too dark for me to see you, that also serves liquor hard enough to forget you're here!
Headcanon: Legions
Here is the Legions of Horror all the current OCs would be in! If you have specific questions about why someone is in a particular Legion rather than another, I will answer them!
Antonia: Has drug her feet, not wanting to prefer one legion over another, but eventually became a Strengoit
Sami: probably would never be invited but would be a Morphan
Aurelius: Strengoit because of his mother
Rebecca: Baccanoid
Henry: Isn’t claimed yet but would either be a Baccanoid or a Kerezan
Lavinia: Kerezan
