Beach 'nanigans

(Late as heck but this looked super cute/fun so /rolls into train late but owell)

 Matthew  -trunks or boardshorts, either green or red & black, no shirt -content pretending to nap but actually people watching behind his sunnies -easily coaxed to come and play though. Volleyball? Frisbee? Whatever works. -tans more than burns but takes precautions  -would likely kill some time walking the shore a couple of times with a metal detector (conveniently allows for more people watching) -probably seething by the 4th (5th at best) time wonderwall is played, but Mostly because he's not the one playing (would totally pull the what's new pussycat thing w/ the beach hut's jukebox) -might be inclined to try surfing - good balance -isn't likely to put much stock in random stuff as souvenirs -barbecue? Yes please  -karaoke? Maybe after a few drinks 

Ewan -red or blue trunks, a light button-down shirt usually kept unbuttoned. Cute lil tan bucket hat too, some days. -making badass sandcastles like a bawss -snacks. All the snacks. -probably burying some poor sap who fell into too deep a sleep -kind of a shoddy swimmer but that won't stop him (he's probably one of the Reasons yhave lifeguards) -would take pictures of literally everything and everyone -picking up crabs and any other weird thing and chasing after people with them -more snacks -doesn't really care all that much for shells n the like but will hoard them anyway so he can gift them to Tethys

🎮  What genre of video games do the mun and muse like best? What are their favorite systems and video games?

Matthew – would probably play first person shooters, but not out of any particular affinity for em - mostly to troll folks or turn his brain off for awhile. Would be annoyingly good at them. Would probably enjoy games based around solving mysteries as well. And maybe platformers?

Ewan – puzzle games! Brain teasers. Aesthetically pleasing games. Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley, yes? Yes. Probably plays some of those FB things too like Candy Crush or whatever.

Key – A fairly broad range but admittedly have mostly stuck to Nintendo (cause of $$$ and zelda >_>) Hit me with some Legend of Zelda, or anything from the Tales of series, Golden Sun, Undertale, Pokemon, or Fire Emblem (obviously), and I’ll be content. Oh, and let’s not forget SMASH BROS. FIGHT ME. AAAAAAAAAA.  (ง •̀Д•́)ง

(also get occasionally addicted to sudoku and picross. but games like that + Harvest Moon I typically avoid because I tend to… disappear… for awhile… but anyway! I like lots of kinds of games! Action, adventure, RPG/JRPG, visual novels, platformers, shooters (i’m garbage at em though), strategy, whatever works, yo. pretty slow/casual though.)

♥ : Name one thing about the way their emotions work that they despise.

'Despise' is a strong word, haha. Suppose in some ways he's at odds with how little he can control them in any way, shape, or form - he's a dude who 100% wears his emotions on his sleeve. Poker face? What's that? (seriously, someone help him out with that haha)

Jealousy in particular he has a hard time with, and sometimes wishes he weren't so spiteful as a result of it. He can be a tad possessive despite himself when it comes to people or places he cares for. This applies to a slightly lesser degree to objects and gold as well - having grown up without a great deal of material wealth, he tends to grow attached to anything he's worked hard to earn or has been gifted him... but these, he places much less emphasis on compared to actual people and relationships. 

(you’d think caer pelyn might’ve taught him a few things re. materialism but he’s still a tiny, stingy dragon protectively sitting atop his equally tiny hoard. don’t touch it. don’t even look at it.)

☠ : Are there any recent/daily thoughts they have about death or dying?

Dying, no, not really. Despite a few close calls, he likely has a difficult time believing anything could really happen to him, y'know? Along the self-centered vein of 'he's the protagonist of his own story, and protagonists typically benefit from a decent amount of plot armour, yay.' Deep down he'd recognize it's wrong and naive, and though he is by no means dull, odds are good he'll keep being a little brash until something scares him bad enough. Hasn't happened yet.

Concerning death, he's seen it (and caused it...) in battle and war. Same as dying, it's not really something like he likes to think about or dwell on. They're sad realities of life, like it or not. Sure. (If he ignores thoughts about death and dying long enough though, maybe they’ll leave him alone...?) 

Ewan’s kinda odd though-- in many ways I consider him somewhat pragmatic, but in a lot of other ways he’s definitely an idealist, too. He'd rather work with the possibility of a bright future instead of hanging onto the gloomy idea that that future may never happen.

✖ : Describe a way to make them uneasy or apprehensive.

Ewan's carefree, go-with-the-flow demeanour is hardly infallible, though he'd probably like people to believe otherwise, and being called on it is among the quicker of ways to deflate him, haha. A sense of humour that doesn't mesh well with his own is likely to put him off his game. Lack of either laughter or smiling invites careful scrutiny and a wary approach.

Alternately, being understimated because of his age can go either of two ways: it can light a quiet fire under him and propel him, or it can play on his nerves... mostly depends on the day, really.(Curiously, his height being picked at bothers him infinitely less than those who simply fixate on his age, though he recognizes the former often doesn't help with the latter)

✓ : Name at least two people who can trust them with their life.

This Q confuses me haha qvq The ol' brain ain't computing much of late. But ah, as far as who Ewan would trust with his life - he's a pretty trusting fellow. Across his travels, the number of people has probably grown some - if in moderation. He actively enjoys believing in folks, but he’s not quite as starry-eyed as some may think him to be. 

In reverse, though... I'm not sure? He's still a kid. He's grown lots in the war, certainly, but... still, I'm sure he'd hope his sister would depend on him in that way! And I think his in-game support with Saleh dealt on this, in that he wanted to support his teacher that-a-way, too.

☢ : Describe a thought or dream that would cause them to have a mental meltdown.

He's dreamt before of the past come to haunt him. Dreams of never having escaped the streets. Dreams of being alone on those streets, his sister simply not coming home one day, no longer there to guide or help him. He was too young to remember the worst of it, but in a roundabout way it's stuck with him... vague memories buried in a haze.

Waking up from these dreams is always a punch to the gut and leaves him with tears pricking at his eyes a moment or two, for reasons he doesn’t always understand, and then leaves him in a somber mood a good few moments longer. Thankfully, he isn’t prone to dreaming often.

✏ : What are their creative outlets?

Ewan is instead more prone to daydreaming - he holds a love for invention and experimentation, and often will work on some idea or another in his head as he goes about his day. Most ideas never make it beyond that concept stage, but hey.

Then there's his magic, of course. He's always working to refine his ability to mold and control it, and it very much counts as a creative outlet for him c:

🍳  What are the mun’s and muse’s favorite foods?

Matthew - has no earthly idea. One of those 'what do you wanna eat?' '... i dunno, whatever you wanna eat' types (or he would be if it hadn't been partly badgered out of him over time - now he’d be more likely to just answer on a whim). He’s not picky but has a definite preference for savoury foods over anything sweet. Probably has some fond memories of tourtieres or meat pies from back home but that's about it.

Ewan - Watermelon, berries, flaky pastries... light fare. Enjoys food with Jehanna's particular blend of spices a lot, too. Sit some butter chicken in front of him and he will be a happy camper. 

Key - mmm... gimme pizza, or pasta, or burgers <3 Or stirfry/veggies in general. Or sushi (but like, that fake cali roll sushi because i'm lame, and i'm not sorry at all//or the sushi we make at home sometimes, goooood stuff). Or freakin ramen. Ugh I love ramen. A good, legit poutine is bliss, too. NOT ALL POUTINES ARE CREATED EQUAL OKAY (this is coming from a french canadian 8T)... Anyway I don’t fancy myself super picky either (though certainly not to Matthew’s extent), but I’m pretty awful with spicy/hot stuff 8x save me

(I love food in general, okay. I dunno where my fam gets off calling me a bottomless pit but food is good, yes. how am i supposed to pick a favourite??? i cannot qvq)

🎁What sorts of gifts do the mun and muse like? What were the last gifts they gave and received?

Matthew -- practical things. He's not ignorant of symbolism but would rather something he can use. Last material gift he received (I think??) was a jacket from Cordelia for his bday, and the last he gave was a wooden pegasus carving he'd whittled for Cordelia's bday v: (... which can be used as a decorative paperweight or a small book-end x3)

Ewan -- bright and colourful things! beautiful things! A bit of a sap and will get sentimental or nostalgic about things given to him. Knowledge makes for a wonderful gift as well but heck. Anything goes and will be treasured. Last gift he gave was a writing brush for Mitama.

Key -- same as Matthew, got a preference for things I can put to some use. (or  uh if we’re super honest here, art of my OCs. every bday/christmas my fam asks me ‘what do you want’ and I tell them ‘art of my chars! I don’t care if it’s made out of macaroni noodles or whatever... they never bite, though 8T but that shiz sends me over the moon and i hoard it like a lil dragon)But among my favourites of things I ever received is probably my iPod speaker from many christmases ago (and my iPod nano a few years before that, heh-- that thing's probably like a decade old now, almost? but still kickin!!).
