Ya know, there's this instagrammer Caro Daur. German, fashion blogger, model. Tall, blonde, noodle thin. Body type seems dramatic but many clothes on flamboyant natural type. When I discovered her (earlier today) I was like- what if? But then I was like - haha that's absurd. Unless....

We have fewer similarities than you think. Caro Daur is a Northern girl glamazon, I’m a cryptid from the Alps 😄 She’s blonde, I’m brunette. Caroline is her first name, Carolyn is my second name. She’s tall, but I’m even taller 😅 I resemble Heike Makatsch (the German actress) a lot more apparently.

It’s 4 years the total to be a doctor in Germany ? Here we have 7 + the inter year :,(

The short answer is no, in fact I rather have the feeling I’m just starting… It’s actually 6 years and 3 months, with the last year being completely in hospital, but: very few get it done in that amount of time.

At my school only about 50% make it throught step 1 of the national licensing exam in time, and a lot of people take one year off to either pursue a PhD (like I currently do) or study abroad. Or both. So realisticly it’s usually about 7 years before residency, if not more. They disposed the intern year a couple of years ago, so we just start residency after graduation.

So as I’m just starting my 4th year as PhD year, it’s 4 more years for me until graduation, rather 4 and a half since I plan on spending some time abroad. 

I’ve often heard that the german medical education system is pretty confusing, so if anyone wants to know more about it hit my askbox! :)
