Mary: There's a novelistic account of you [pertaining to the novel Rodham] dumping Bill *Hillary laughs* and becoming president. In a sense, that you have lost control of yourself because you have a completely uncontrolled life... you know, with people's imaginations.
Hillary: But you know, I don't think of it that way, Mary. These people have completely every right to write about me most of it is absurd, unconnected with my life, unconnected to me, and I don't think about it. I think I would be crazy if I thought about it that much.
Mary: Do you read it?
Hillary: No, I don't read it. I. don't. read. it. It's so rare that they could get it ever right. They don't know me, I don't know them. So much that they use as primary material is from the press - a kind of ten, twenty degrees off... why would I clutter my head with their speculation about me?
I really find this information interesting. It just tells me how unbothered she is by the interpretation of others about her and how much she respects the writers' right to write about her. I found this interesting because it always boggles me (and sometimes it can be a point of frustration) why she seems to be okay that others have miscontrued who she is as a person. She didn't file any libel cases for those people who profitted by writing about her or her family. I think it really boils down to her respecting their rights.
