“Winnie is as normal as her brother and I are, and I will not stand here and listen to you insinuating otherwise. You wouldn’t even need to ask if Winnie had magic if you had ever bothered getting to know her, rather than making more and more mistakes just trying to escape from your previous ones. And believe you me, Evan – you will make a terrible mistake if you make one move toward taking my Winnie away from me.”

Okay, so there’s been a lot of content on the HPHM community centered around MC’s dad, thanks to those recent Datamine spoilers...so I decided I should probably do something featuring Carewyn’s real dad, the Muggle department store manager Evan Bach, while also showcasing that Lane Cromwell is Best Mother in the Universe. (Love you, @aceyanaheim 🤗)
But yes. This is the final argument that shattered Evan and Lane’s marriage beyond repair and made Evan walk out on his family, never to return. Truly, I don’t see Evan as an inherently evil person -- he truly loved Lane and wanted to “rescue” her from the abusive, unloving home life she’d told him she’d suffered. (Basically, he’s a misguided Gryffindor type.) And although he was indisputably a terrible father to Jacob and Carewyn, it largely comes down to him being so scarred by his own father not being in his life thanks to him getting chucked into prison for committing violent crimes. It makes it so that Evan distrusts anything that strays outside the straight and narrow path he (and by extension everyone else in society) is expected to follow, which in turn makes him try to “correct” those misbehaviors before they could theoretically spiral out of his control and make him lose anyone else like he did his father. And considering just how much Lane had to keep secret from Evan all those years they were married about the Wizarding World, magic, her dangerous family, and even their own children, it’s not completely surprising that Evan was upset and betrayed when he learned the truth. He’d always considered himself the head of the household and learning that his always very dutiful, submissive and may-I-point-out-slightly-younger-and-more-naive wife in truth had these kinds of skeletons in her closet was a betrayal he could hardly articulate the weight of.
But for as sympathetic as some of his rationale might be, Evan still managed to make Lane Cromwell -- a painfully soft-spoken and reclusive woman who never learned how to properly express anger thanks to her abusive father and so can only emotionally shut down rather than rage or shout -- snap by insinuating that maybe Carewyn could still turn out “normally,” if there was just some way to “stamp out” her budding magic.
Anyone who might’ve doubted Lane was a daughter of Charles Cromwell wouldn’t have, if they’d seen how heartless and cruel her almond-shaped sky-blue eyes were upon her husband that night. Being the subject of that gaze, coupled with the foreboding, deathly quiet voice in which Lane spoke, is one of the few times in his life that Evan ever felt afraid, and the first and only time he’d ever been afraid of his wife. He was so afraid, in fact, that he packed his bags and fled that very night, never to return. And to this day, Lane, Jacob, and Carewyn have had no contact with Evan Bach. Not that that’s stopped Lane from cultivating her own happily-ever-after, raising her two kids on her own as a single mother, becoming a well-respected magical historian as she always dreamed, and even eventually helping take down her abusive father and his magical Cabal so as to protect herself and her precious bairns. 💙
Hope you all like this...as always, please consider liking/reblogging/commenting! It’s actually kind of cool to draw these two again after so long, and I hope to make more fun content for you all in the future! ✨
...Okay, this was done largely for my own benefit, but I figured some of you might find some interest in it, all the same. This is Carewyn’s extended family tree, including her relations in the Cromwell Clan! (Built with help from FamilyEcho! 💜)
Here are a couple of notes, which might make this family tree both more interesting and easier to read --
Carewyn’s maternal grandmother, Marilyn, was a very glamorous woman who was much more style over substance and who married her betrothed Charles as soon as she graduated from Hogwarts, at age 17. She was obsessed with making her family look pretty and perfect from the outside, which, when coupled with Charles’s obsession with control, made her more than complicit with his cruel and abusive parenting. She died of dragon pox one year after Jacob was born. She did learn of Jacob’s birth before her premature death, and although she was open with her disdain of her daughter Lane’s “bastard child” around her adult children and husband, in the last few days trapped in bed, she deliriously rambled about wanting to send something through owl post for her grandson’s birthday.
Charles and Marilyn were both Sorted into Slytherin, but groomed their four children with such a balanced upbringing (valuing glory, loyalty, academic achievement and ambition) that they each ended up in a different house -- Pearl in Gryffindor, Claire in Hufflepuff, Lane in Ravenclaw, and Blaise in Slytherin.
Claire was the “favorite” among the siblings -- she got the most proposals out of her siblings, thanks to her stupidly pleasant, follower-type personality. It actually took a while for her to get married due to Charles weighing all of her choices to pick the best one, and it also took some effort for her to get pregnant, let alone bear a son the way her husband Marek wanted.
Lane and her Muggle husband Evan fell out after Jacob received his Hogwarts letter and Evan abandoned his family that very night. For the full story of their relationship and its fall-out, you can consult these two posts!
Marianne Fudge-Cromwell was swept off her feet by Blaise, largely because of his handsome face. It didn’t take her long to realize how big of a mistake she’d made when he started trying to control her the way Charles did his children. After she died giving birth to her and Blaise’s only son, Tristan, however, Blaise has since romanticized both her and their relationship, smoothing over any of its less pleasant aspects both for Tristan’s sake and for his own. He’s also shifted his controlling nature onto Tristan instead. After he collides with Jacob and Carewyn, Blaise becomes unhealthily “attached” to them too and tries to pressure them to “rejoin” the Clan on multiple occasions.
After Lane ran away from home, Charles Cromwell bid Pearl, Claire, and Blaise to have his grandchildren homeschooled, so as to deter them from making healthier connections in the outside world and breaking away from the Clan the way Lane did. It didn’t take much convincing, since Lane’s siblings were so hurt by Lane’s “betrayal” and so afraid of losing their children the way they did her.
When Carewyn’s cousins enter into the working world, they all give Carewyn and Jacob the side-eye, considering them “Muggle-bred bastards” and resenting them for playing a role in Charles being condemned to Azkaban and their parents each having a short stint in it too.
Duncan, as we know, stayed behind as a ghost and Jacob was trapped in a magical portrait for seven years. They only ever acknowledged their deep romantic feelings for each other in 1989, just before Duncan finally moved onto the next life. I haven’t decided Jacob’s romantic future after losing Duncan (message me if interested in doing something with my boy?), but I do imagine him becoming a father someday.
If you’d like to learn more about Orion’s fall-out with ex-girlfriend Delilah Flint, you can consult this post, but during the Second Wizarding War, Carewyn both reconnected with single father Orion and adopted her foster son ward Erik Apollo. Erik and Eos end up growing up a lot like siblings, even if they live in two separate households with their respective “parent.”
Oc Asks Game: 2 and 23 for all of your MCs? If that's ok?
Whew! Okay, let's see...
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate or other?
Carewyn: Coffee! Like her good friend Talbott, she's a coffee addict to the extent her other half Orion tries to wean her off of it. Her favorite blend is a caramel macchiato, but she'll also drink it black in a pinch.
Jacob: Hot chocolate. Jacob is a chocoholic and he'll never pass up a good hot chocolate.
Lane: English Breakfast tea.
Erik: Coffee, black as his soul. LMAO just kidding. 🤣
Ana: Good old-fashioned milk, specifically skim, since it's what her mum raised her with in a misguided attempt to help "curb" her weight. She also loves orange and (thanks to her boo Charlie Copper's influence) lemon mimosas.
Farid: Juice!! This boy loves juice, especially orange juice, though he also becomes very fond of pumpkin juice while staying at Hogwarts. Also green tea and almond milk.
Ru: They'll drink most anything that isn't too sweet (they really don't like chocolate, for instance), but in the mornings they tend to like apple juice best.
Ed: Any kind of sweet coffee brew, especially if it's got lots of foam. He actually becomes rather fond of trying out new brews at Muggle coffee shops just for kicks, though one of his favorites so far is the white chocolate mocha. He also loves hot chocolate, especially white hot chocolate.
Desi: Tea! Earl Gray tea is her absolute favorite thing to have in the morning, alongside a French croissant.
Eli: Butterbeer, though after moving to the States and living as a Muggle, he also became very fond of root beer and Coca Cola. (Eli honestly has never had much respect for what drinks/foods belong to which times of the day, especially given how bonkers his schedule can be with rehearsals and the parties he'll stay up all night for, so yes, he will drink soda "for breakfast," so to speak.)
(And Jackson and Bat are here!)
What is your character’s favourite food and who cooks it best?
Carewyn: Potato crisps! Walkers makes good ones.
Jacob: As mentioned before, chocolate! As a kid he loved Cadbury eggs and Yorkie Bars, but as an adult traveling the world, he falls in love with Richart and Ghirardelli chocolate.
Lane: Pikelets! She learned how to make them at home early on and she's always loved making them for her bairns Carewyn and Jacob.
Erik: Cinnamon coffee cake! He also likes Red Hot candies.
Ana: Fresh bread, right out of the oven. Her favorite kind is German brown bread.
Farid: Curry! All kinds. One of his favorite recipes to make himself is a lamb curry with chopped apple, onion, potatoes, and golden raisins, as well as a bunch of spices.
Jackson: Crepes, specifically with strawberries and powdered sugar! He's become very fond of making them in the mornings for both himself and Monty.
Bat: This is going to sound so cliche if you know about Bat's love of Christmas...but figgy pudding. No one can make it like his mum used to!
Ru: Aaaaaaapples. This water horse will eat most anything, but they love apples. Apple pie and apple turnovers are their friend -- it doesn't take long for their other half Estrid @thatravenpuffwitch to figure this out, so she'll sometimes surprise them by going to the market and picking some up from time to time.
Ed: Cheesecake. Ed loves most pastries, but cheesecake is his OTL and it doesn't matter how cheap it is, he will always indulge in some. When he first tried Mrs. Weasley's cheesecake, he went very quiet as he ate the whole thing without stopping and he was grinning and flushed like a happy schoolboy for the entire rest of the day, he was so happy.
Desi: Croissants! Though while traveling she also tries and takes a liking to cornish pasties.
Eli: Custard. He also takes a liking to Jello, pudding, and meatballs, while living in the States.
fancasting Claire Danes as Lane! // done because hey, it’s not my birthday everyday XD

Lane Cromwell (formally Bach) is the mother of Carewyn and Jacob Cromwell and the third daughter of the cruel head of the Cromwell Clan, Charles Cromwell. All four of Charles’s children received a very balanced education and were taught to value all of Hogwarts’s central values -- glory, loyalty, academic achievement, and ambition -- so as to hopefully bring their family the esteem and authority “owed” to them. But soft-spoken, intellectual Lane being sorted into Ravenclaw ended up opening her eyes to just how wide and beautiful the world beyond the oppressive upbringing she’d had truly was, including the world created by Muggles, which her parents had always scorned and treated as subhuman. Through her connections with classmates like Muggle-born dormmate Judy Castine and Muggle love interest Evan Bach, Lane developed a strong enough sense of self to decide that she wanted to be free of her father’s control. And so, when Charles started making the preparations for an arranged marriage for his third daughter, Lane instead eloped with Evan and ran away from home, even if it effectively cut her off financially and forced her to live in the Muggle World exclusively, since she couldn’t reveal her magic to Evan under the law. Evan and Lane went on to have two children -- Jacob and Carewyn -- but their marriage was doomed to not last. Evan had so effectively ruined his relationship with Jacob thanks to his misguided attempts at discipline and dropped out of Carewyn’s upbringing so completely that learning Lane, Jacob, and Carewyn all had magic was the last straw, and Evan packed up and left that very night, never to return. But Lane persevered all the same, picking herself up as best she could so as to support her “bairns,” and worked three times as hard to take care of her little broken family on her income alone. Eventually her hard work paid off and she was able to earn enough money to support herself and her family while chasing the career she’d always wanted -- being a magical historian. Then, when things were just coming together, her beloved son Jacob was expelled from Hogwarts and then abruptly disappeared without a trace. Unbeknownst to Lane, her father Charles had conspired to get her back under his control however he had to, and he’d decided to do so through terrorizing her children with his new criminal organization R, all in an attempt to recruit them and later her by force. Fortunately, thanks to Carewyn, Jacob, the Circle of Khanna, and even Lane herself, R was thwarted once and for all, leaving Lane, Jacob, and Carewyn to run toward the happy and peaceful future all three of them had dreamed of for so long with their arms wide open. In the end, this is Lane’s story -- that of a woman who, despite all of the unhappiness Lane has known in her life and her shy, reclusive soul, remains ever resilient and strong.
“If I tell the truth, then I will have to tell you this:
Though I grieve, and I believe I feel it truly,
But I knew that ship was empty
By the time it hit the rocks...
We could not hold on when fate became unruly.
So consider me a widow, boys, and I have told you why.
Does the weather say a better day is nearing?
I'll set my house in order now and wait upon the Will --
It's clear that I need better skill in steering...”

Lane Bach (née Cromwell) had been raised in a very abusive magical clan devoid of sincere and selfless love. Despite this, she managed to escape the suffocating, iron-fast control of Charles Cromwell by running away from home and eloping with a Muggle named Evan Bach. Evan swept Lane off her feet, far away from Yorkshire, like a knight-in-shining-armor. With Evan by her side, Lane created a new life for herself in the Muggle World, and actually lived very happily without her magic with her new husband and her precious son, who she and Evan named Jacob. Unfortunately the cracks in the Bach marriage started to appear when Jacob first started showing signs of magic.
When Jacob was first conceived, Evan was initially excited to be a father: to play catch with his boy and teach him how to drive and all the other classic father-son-type activities. Unfortunately Evan had been raised more by his now-deceased great-uncle than his own father, who’d been in prison since Evan was a boy -- so Evan honestly had no guidance about how to be a parent. And thus when Jacob started supposedly “acting out,” Evan didn’t know how to properly discipline him, and ended up resorting to berating Jacob and taking away whatever privileges he could...even if those “privileges” were things that were constructive outlets, like Jacob’s favorite books or chemistry set. Evan also interpreted Jacob’s constant insistence that he didn’t do anything wrong as him actively avoiding responsibility for his actions, which frustrated Evan all the more, since he feared Jacob wouldn’t ever become better if he kept doubling down on his bad behavior. Evan was determined to make sure Jacob didn’t become a screw-up like his father had been, and was determined to mold Jacob in his image so as to prevent that outcome. But the more Evan badgered Jacob to “stop acting out,” the more Jacob would withdraw from his father and act petulant just to stick it to both him and his teachers who refused to believe him when he said he’d done nothing wrong. Lane -- who of course understood the real reason behind Jacob’s supposed “misbehavior” but was forbidden to speak of it -- tried very hard to soothe Evan and shield Jacob from his temper, but this only served to make it so that Evan often felt his wife was taking their son’s side against him, rather than supporting her husband: coddling Jacob and making Evan look like a “bad guy” that Jacob could hate rather than showing a united front that might prompt him to be the upstanding son he should be. Evan had “rescued” Lane from her unhappy life with a family she told him had mistreated her, but he had no idea how to “rescue” his son from his road toward ruin.
This dynamic was unpleasant, but relatively stable, but it shifted significantly again when, around Jacob’s eighth birthday, Lane ended up pregnant with her and Evan’s second child, Carewyn. Unfortunately this time Evan was far less enthused. In the years since Jacob was born, Evan had been very disillusioned by the supposed “joy” of fatherhood. Not only had he completely messed up with his son Jacob, who was as different from him as he could possibly be and openly disrespected him, but he had even less clue about how to deal with a daughter than he had a son. The idea of failing again the way he had with Jacob was something Evan just couldn’t handle...and so, when Carewyn was born, he buried himself in his work at his department store and emotionally plugged out of his baby daughter’s life. Even though Evan still lived with her, Carewyn was entirely raised by Lane and by Jacob, who immediately jumped in to help his mother look after his baby sister. Even as an adult, if anyone asks Jacob about his father, Jacob will attest that as much as he hates Evan for how he treated him, he hates him far, far more for how much he cast Carewyn aside like she didn’t matter. Lane tried more than a few times to bridge the gap between Evan and their children, but it often resulted in Lane and Evan once again coming to a stand-off regarding Jacob and his “misbehavior” or in Evan showing Carewyn some half-hearted affection and then retreating right back into his work. Evan forgot both of Carewyn’s birthdays he was present for, and only got her a Christmas present -- a book of fairy tales -- with some prompting from Lane. Even then, however, it was Jacob who ended up reading those fairy tales to Carewyn, not Evan.
What broke the Bach marriage once and for all, however, was the arrival of Jacob’s Hogwarts letter in the fall of 1975. The revelation that Jacob was a wizard, and that all of the strange incidents he’d been blamed for over the years had actually been the result of magical accidents, filled Jacob with such an unbelievable amount of vindication and validation. He finally knew why all of these bad things happened to him, and better yet, he now knew he wasn’t the only one who experienced that sort of stuff! His own mother said she’d done weird things too, at his age, and best of all, that it was normal! That all young witches and wizards -- hundreds upon thousands of them, all over the world, went through the exact same thing!
But rather than feeling happy for his son, or shocked, or even confused, like Lane had expected...Evan felt like he’d been slapped hard in the face. He didn’t just feel hurt that Lane hadn’t told him -- he felt betrayed. No matter how much Lane told him that she wasn’t legally allowed to -- no matter how much she insisted that she would’ve told him the day they’d first met, if she could have -- it didn’t matter. Evan had swooped into her rescue because she’d needed him -- how could she have needed him, if she could do magic?
Lane’s response was very quiet and grim.
“Magic isn’t all powerful, Evan. And even if it were...my entire family can do it too.”
As sensible as Lane’s answers were, and as apologetic as she was that she had to keep her ancestry from him, nothing seemed to soothe Evan. He was supposed to be the man of the house -- providing for his family, leading them and taking charge -- he’d already had a hard enough time of it with Jacob being so stubborn and obstinate, but now it turned out he had these supernatural powers Evan wouldn’t be able to control? And worse, Evan’s own wife ended up having these same powers too -- ones he could never hope to keep contained?
It was then that -- in the midst of this argument where Lane had only ever tried to pacify and deescalate -- Evan asked the worst possible question he could’ve thought up.
“...What about our daughter? Is she still normal? Is there a way to just...stamp out anything, before she...?”
Lane, who never learned how to properly express anger, shut down all of her emotion at that point. Any love she felt for Evan and had tried to express disappeared completely, and she spoke with a kind of detached, unemotional coldness that made her sound more like a Cromwell than she had in years.
“Winnie is as normal as her brother and I are, and I will not stand here and listen to you insinuating otherwise. You wouldn’t even need to ask if Winnie had magic if you had ever bothered getting to know her, rather than making more and more mistakes just trying to escape from your previous ones. And believe you me, Evan -- you will make a terrible mistake if you make one move toward taking my Winnie away from me.”
The very next morning, Evan Bach was gone. He’d packed up all of his belongings and left his family for good, never to be seen again.
Not long after, Lane -- with some financial help from her old school friend, Judy Castine -- was able to buy herself, Jacob, and Carewyn a tinier flat in Liverpool, and the three started their lives anew, albeit much, much more modestly than before. Lane had to scrape together enough money for them to live on with odd jobs as a magical historian, frequently being forced to leave Carewyn alone at home as a latch-key kid. Jacob had to rely on Hogwarts’s impoverished students’ fund for his school supplies, and Carewyn grew up only owning three dresses that she had to wear multiple times in a week. Despite this, the three were an inseparable family, cherishing their winter holidays together where they could sing Christmas carols, watch Christmas movies on TV, and eat a modest Christmas dinner complete with a chocolate Yule Log. And even when this tiny family was tested and threatened by the shadow of the Cromwell Clan, Lane, Jacob, and Carewyn Cromwell’s greatest strength remained in their knowledge of sincere, selfless love, which they first learned from each other.
Fanfic Writer Friday: I asked about your MCs' favourite spells before a few weeks back, so this time... does all of your MCs have any favourite potions? Either as a potion they like to make? Or just because of a potion's magical properties and how cool it sounds when explained to them?
Oh gosh, favorite potions...only a few of my MCs really enjoy Potions, so I can only think of a couple off the top of my head --
Carewyn isn't a huge fan of Potions, but because of her close friendship with Chiara, she would pick the Wolfsbane Potion as her favorite. She's glad there's something that people like Chiara and Remus can use to help them with their condition, though Carewyn wishes it was more accessible. One potion Carewyn actively dislikes, though, is Amortentia -- she finds using love potions on other people morally reprehensible and greatly advocates regulating their use so that they're no longer sold commercially and that students are better instructed in the dangers of using them.
Jacob adores Potions (it's his personal favorite subject, even if he's best at Transfiguration), and the ones he finds most interesting are the really complicated ones, like Polyjuice Potion and the Draught of the Living Dead. He also finds alchemy fascinating, so the idea of the being able to make a Philosopher's Stone and/or the Elixir of Life appeals to Jacob too. His favorite, though, would be the Wiggenweld Potion -- Ashe used to have to brew it for Jacob a lot, whenever he'd get injured.
Lane has always been better with understated magics like Potions and History of Magic as opposed to flashier ones like Defense Against the Dark Arts or Transfiguration. If asked, she would pick the Pepper-Up Potion -- as much as she was okay with using Muggle remedies, after she and Evan split, Lane liked the freedom of being able to brew one, whenever her bairns was sick.
Although at school, Bat was considered his BFF Barty's athletic sidekick by most people, he was always wicked smart, and Potions was surprisingly one of his best subjects, aside from Flying and History of Magic. He even became an apothecary for a while, in both his first life and his second. His favorite potions to brew back in the day were the most useful ones, such as the Pepper-Up Potions and Calming Draughts, as well as antidotes in general. His favorite to brew after a while, though, became the Sleeping Draught, because of how often he would brew it for his cohort Atticus "Grim" Grimsley @cursebreakerfarrier to help him get some good quality rest. In their first lives, Bat would brew Grim a Sleeping Draught in his room at school while making idle chat with his friend, and then sometimes even help lull him off to sleep with a song to two once he gave him the Potion. 💙
Given their lack of talent with a wand, one of Ru's best subjects is Potions. (The others are Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures.) As one might expect, their favorite Potion is the Developing Solution used to make magical photographs!
Farid isn't a wizard, but he does find the Healing potions and tonics developed for magical and non-magical creatures very helpful in his line of work (namely, as a veterinarian for magical and non-magical creatures). He can't usually brew a lot of Potions on his own since he can't finish them off with a good wave of a wand, but he still likes keeping a few on hand in case he ever comes across an ill or injured creature.
For the ask thing you reblogged! 1. What is their blood status (pureblood, muggleborn, etc)? What are their thoughts on the concept of blood status? and 18. Which Unforgivable Curse would they be most likely to use? What would be the reason for it?
I guess I'll just assume these are for all the kiddos! And if so...yikes, let's see here --
What is their blood status (pureblood, muggleborn, etc)? What are their thoughts on the concept of blood status?
Muggle-born - Bat, Erik, Ana
Halfblood - Carewyn, Jacob, Jackson
Not Human - Bat (as a vampire, trapped in the body of a Pureblood); Ru (kelpie impersonating a Pureblood)
None of my characters ascribe to notions of blood purity at all, but Ana in particular follows her stepfather Bradley's example by working in pro-Squib, Muggle, and Muggle-born activism, as well as marching for LGBT+ rights and racial equality. Jackson has some lingering bitterness toward Muggles because of the way his Muggle father treated him, but only to the extent that he strongly believes in the Statute of Secrecy and that the Muggle and Wizarding Worlds should remain separate: Jackson doesn't hate Muggles at all, but he doesn't believe they're "ready" to learn the truth about the Wizarding World. Bat, as a Muggle-born who married a black Irish Catholic Muggle back in the 18th century, is very firm in his stance against the ideas of pureblood supremacy, as well as all other kinds of racism or prejudice -- he finds blood purists reprehensible and thinks they should always be stood up to, rather than pacified or ignored. (In his second life as Robert Bellamy, this prompts him to join the Order of the Phoenix, even if it puts him in direct opposition to his roommate Atticus's extended family, the Lestranges.) Ru, not even being human in the first place, is only scornful of Muggles when they find them ignorant or uninteresting, and that attitude can be just as applicable to wizards who they likewise find ignorant or uninteresting.
Which Unforgivable Curse would they be most likely to use? What would be the reason for it?
Carewyn's answer is here, and Lane's and Bat's are here. As for the others...
Jacob - Sadly Jacob was forced to use the Cruciatus Curse once while working for R. Even if it was only done under duress, as R's leadership threatened to use the curse on Carewyn instead if he didn't comply, it's one of his deepest regrets. Jacob would never use it again, if he had his way, but his temper is thus that I could see him using the Unforgivable Curses if he completely lost his mind with rage and grief in a very traumatic situation, such as someone murdering his mother or sister.
Erik - If a Killing Curse could destroy a dementor (which it can't), Erik would use it without hesitation. His main goal as an Auror is to see every single dementor eradicated so that they can never harm another person again, so if breaking the law helps him succeed in that goal, he'll do it.
Ana - I could only see Ana using the Imperius Curse to defend herself or someone else, by forcing them to stop fighting. Even if she's a very competent duelist and isn't afraid of fighting, she's got a very idealistic code of honor worthy of a knight, and wouldn't want to permanently damage somebody.
Jackson - However sensitive of a soul Jackson is, he is a true politician. He would accept the use of the Unforgivable Curses if it was in aid of protecting the Wizarding World, while he was Minister -- he wouldn't bat an eye using the Killing Curse on someone like Grindelwald, if it protected his country. "Greater good," indeed... 😔
Ru - Ru can't cast any Unforgivable Curse, even if they wanted to -- their magic isn't strong enough. But if they somehow got an infusion of stronger magic and were really pushed to their emotional limit, I could see them using the Cruciatus Curse on someone who tried to hurt one of their friends, both to make them stop fighting and to take proper vengeance by disarming and/or injuring them.
Hello Tory! I hope i chose interesting questions for your characters, and also i'm hoping it's not too much for 1 ask :"D
Can i have 8, 43 and 50 for Carewyn; 26 and 37 for Jacob; and also 15 for both Lane and Jacob and 66 for Carewyn and Lane?
I wish you good day!🤍
Whew! These are all fantastic, sweetheart! 😘 Let's see now...
8. What is MC's weakness?
Carewyn has several, but the two big ones that tend to get her in trouble the most are her pride and her perfectionism, which often end up playing off each other in unpleasant ways. Carewyn has a lot of difficulty both accepting help from others and acknowledging that she needs help to begin with, and yet she also expects herself to do everything she tries perfectly. When she falls short of her own expectations, she then precedes to beat herself up about it forever, meaning she has a lot of unresolved self-loathing toward herself that she then feels all the more determined to mask and mitigate by doing things perfectly all on her own. And as you can imagine, that can become a cycle unless someone she loves steps in to remind her that everyone makes mistakes and it's not right that she abuse herself simply for being human.
43. What's MC's favorite summer activity?
Carewyn loves the ocean. When she was little, Jacob took her to the beach one summer, and she fell absolutely in love with the smell of the salty air and the sounds of the waves crashing upon the shore, and she spent most of the day with her shoes off, wading in the water. Now as an adult, it's one of her favorite places to visit with Orion and/or Erik and Eos.
50. What would MC think of you?
*chuckles darkly* I think Carewyn wouldn't love having anyone writing her story or the stories of the ones she loves, so she would definitely be uber mistrustful of me. If we're just talking personality-wise, she would probably be more okay with me -- I could see her being reminded of her other half Orion interacting with me, since both Orion and I are dreamy, philosophical, live-one-day-at-a-time INFP types. Plus we share a lot of musical interests in common.
26. What's MCs favourite part of the Creature Reserve? (Grasslands, Forest, etc.)
I could see Jacob liking the Dark Forest best -- a lot of the most dangerous and rarest creatures are there!
37. What is MC's most frequently used spell?
Reparo. Although Jacob's area of expertise is Transfiguration, he ends up using the Repairing Charm a lot, both because of things he fixed and otherwise -- he likes solving people's problems.
15. What is MC's element?
Jacob is fire, while Lane is air! I actually once did a set of ATLA-inspired moodboards for Carewyn, Jacob, and Lane delving into this.
66. Does MC have some habits?
Carewyn organizes her closet by naming every single piece in it and grouping them together with like-minded pieces. It's something both Jacob and later Bill tease her about.
