Have you ever written fanfiction?

I have and I still do, though I have a tendency to completely dissect canon each time and turn the story into my own little thing skdskfjsks. My writing mostly consists of fanfiction works — the ratio is three fanfiction projects to one original work (that is still lowkey fanfiction since it is about a person who existed?). I am, however, struggling a lot with one of my canonverses and am mostly focusing on my original work these days as it brings me endless misery joy and many opportunities to improve my craft.

What do you think says the most about a person?

The way they treat others — that always reveals the kind of person they are the most. You can be extroverted or introverted, a sunshine or a grump, someone who is temperamental or detached, but common courtesy and manners shows a lot about what hides inside your heart (and I ultimately believe that it also reveals just how content you are with yourself). I personally cannot stand condescending people with a holier-than-thou approach to life.

Also, the way they observe what is happening around them and react to these situations. Being able to speak out in defence of someone who is being wronged, openly talking about problems around us, and being aware of the horrible things happening in the world speaks volumes.

What’s a weird fact that you know?

Favourite place to nap?

I always experience the best naps when I spend time in our small family cabin during summer. We have a terrace where I can fit a mattress, so I usually toss it in there, add an ungodly amount of blankets and read there (and nap there). The naps are always so special because I practically get to sleep outside, on fresh mountain air. Naps on the terrace while there is a summer storm raging outside is even more delicious.

I think I might be entitled to a senior discount because… eleven years. 🙈

Is there a song you know all the lyrics to?

There are many songs I know all the lyrics to because I usually tend to memorise them after listening to them frequently, but my biggest accomplishment is learning the lyrics to “The Ketchup Song” once I started learning Spanish. It was a massive hit in my country when I was a kid, we used to dance to it alllll the time, but our small lizard brains understood nothing back then. Learning the lyrics and understanding what the song actually is about was like entering a new dimension lmao.

What colour is your hair?

I am naturally a brunette with copperish tones but officially became a member of the Redheads Club this year! I have always, always loved this type of hair colours. My mum has always dyed her hair ginger, so ever since I was a little child, I have always wanted to follow this tradition and have the same hair colour. I feel super pleased & am going for an even lighter shade for the summer. ☀️

A little (lot) about the blogger

Since My life has entered a new chapter, thanks to the Tumblr community and the Tony Stark fandom, here are some stuff about myself, along with some intuitions-driven changes (This) and new project outlines.

To be honest this is more like a personal blog than a marvel blog. Content control and quality not guaranteed around here, feel free to message me some feedback/reactions/suggestions on anything. If in doubt, send in an ask in anon. If still in doubt, click the unfollow button.

So, the basics:

The name is Lin, or 燐 in Chinese/Japanese. Born in April, 2001 with the star sign Aries. 99.9% Chinese ethnicity. Born in Germany; holds a German passport. Went to school in Shanghai. Transferred to a boarding school in England to do the IB diploma, in the year of graduation (right now) I moved back to Shanghai due to mental health considerations.

Personality:

A proud INTP, though leaning a bit more to the Feel side which I blame my personal experiences, small-t traumas, all that. Am more of a humanities/social sciences nerd than a natural science/technology nerd. Wanna major in Philosophy purely because of my idea of the purpose, or rather the lack of purposes in a human’s life.

What Mental Health issues?

Severely depressed since Spring 2017. The symptoms are continuous, though fluctuates slightly from time to time. Experiences mild but vague psychotic symptoms during Summer 2018. Auditory Hallucinations or not are not yet confirmed, may not be ever confirmed, for all I care.

Identity:

Pansexual, indifferent/uncertain demi-gender, proud and out and about. Currently heads-over-tails in love. I love and dedicate to however is necessary for my queen <3 Also one of the reason why I want to do gender and minority studies in the future. 

Plans:

Planning to move to Canada for the sake of my well-being. Seriously, China might be blooming in economy, but is rotting at the core. Fuck this country. Especially ignorance and isolationism.

Due to my weakness and my worthlessness my various mental health issues there is a possibility that I wont end up going to a university. If that becomes the case then I wish I could end up working in a local LGBTQ+ support, preferably non-profit. otherwise I might just as well work at a kink bar/dungeon. Hmm now that sounds not bad, actually. I might seriously consider it, who knows.

Languages:

I speak 3 languages, English & Chinese & Japanese, pretty fluently in comparison to my grasp of the rest of the languages I learn. Someone said German? Nope, not gonna talk about that devil of a language. Nopenopenope.  Despite being raise up in a Chinese family I am not on the same level as the native-speakers at my age. Now here is what comes tricky: I think primarily in English, but am still in need to look up dictionaries when I write. Never did I systematically learned English, thus I particularly suck at grammar and expressions/phrases. That does not stop me from trying my absolute best to talk and write in English, however. In Terms of Japanese, I’m pretty confident I can read newspapers without a single new vocabulary or grammar. Though I really suck at the basic conversations as I learned it without any textbooks. My knowledge of the Japanese language is purely based upon personal interests. As most of the youngsters in China did, I grew up watching Japanese anime on TV. So I was fulling experiencing the Weeb Anime Phase until Year 10 (aka First year of high school). 

wannabe Hobbies/Passion:

I love Japanese minor rock music. Love them so much. Especially Math Rock e.g. toe. Come and chat to me about Japanese minor rock music and I will explode right in front of you, basically.

Indie games is my jam. Choose Your Own Adventure (like The Choice of Robots, a classic), Visual novels, no not the anime type, simulations, casual, RPG etc. Though I sometimes play massively multiplayer as they could be fun in their own ways, such as modding your own characters.

I heard that the Chinese part of the Marvel Fandom is pretty huge, why tumblr?

The reason why my fascination of Japanese culture is fading kinda corresponds with why I am more and more into Marvel/Tumblr. Warning: salty venting ahead

I have too much explanations in mind and it is not a fitting topic for a self introduction, but in summary: The Chinese so-called fandom culture is heavily influenced by the Japanese Manga culture. I find them abusive, ignorant and degrading to a point that I think this is why North East Asia (aka the Fancy Asian Countries) would better end up in doom, metaphorically (haha, but seriously? no). if any one of you want to know more about how the world is all sleeping on how much of a hell hole China and Japan is, feel free to message me anytime. I’ll list off a few here: rape culture, pedophilia normalization and fetishizing, extreme sexism and racism, governments brainwashing through extreme propaganda, the stomach-turning patriarchy, OH, AND THE HOMOPHO- ...I can’t.

I know that people on Tumblr can be real nasty sometimes, but the people on the Chinese Equivalent of Tumblr is downright insufferable. Used to give me suicidal thoughts everyday.

I am aware that all of that simply makes me sound like a bratty teenager, but honestly? I had enough of ‘restrains’ and ‘rules that you don’t count as Chinese if you don’t follow’ under the Chinese /g/o/v/e/r/n/m/e/n/t, I don’t give a simple damn of how others think my behaviors represent in their eyes.

Finally, in conclusion, I came here to enjoy my freedom. To make friends and spread love between good spirited human beings. Not to spread hate. Over.

So that was long, and didn’t really end on a happy note. I apologize for that. There will be another post about what I wanna do since I freed myself from some of my mental thorns. Once its finished the link should be embedded in the first paragraph of this post.

I lowkey want to do that “OTP meme” thing, not for my own headcanons about Raha.

Just because I want to put “It’s Complicated” in the age difference thing.

Going by their birthdates, Lin is approximately 2 years older than him (Depending on when he was born). Specifically she was 26 during the Crystal Tower raids and he was 24 (According to EE).

Biologically, I headcanon G’raha stopped aging around 25, maybe 26. Let him spend some time in the hellworld that is the Eighth Umbral Era, but that’s because I really want him to experience just what he has to lose. It’s not some “Here’s an artificial primal filled with data from an alien. Glad you’re awake now ciao! -Tycoon makes TARDIS noises before he even really wakes up-” That said, I also headcanon that he joined with the crystal tower during this time, before his trip to the first. And here’s where it gets complicated. Lin is actually biologically 21-23 when she’s the WoL. It’s not *that* noticeable, but she was in a kind of protected stasis for five years as the seventh shard’s soul rejoined and took control. That said, this is a well-guarded secret and no one knows (maybe A’aba thought she looked too much like her old self, that she was missing something, but if so, even he dismissed that as being irrational) So Lin would think she’s biologically the two or three years older than G’raha, while actually being 2 or 3 years younger.

And of course, there’s the classic wibbly wobbly timey-wimey “How old are you” obvious answers. Lin is 28 mentally and chronologically, and G’raha is over 300 (200+ years in the tower, 100+ on the first, plus the 24 years before and 1 or 2 between)

Also, she’s approximately an inch taller than him.

Don’t know how I’d fill out the graphs, but that first bit... haahaha

WoL!Lin’s canonical FFXIV Timeline

(Always up for debate, but this is how it works as of 5.01) These are the ages Lin is at the time, the part after the . is the number of months after her nameday.)

26.1: Approximately 5 years after the Calamity, an adventurer from La Noscea by the name of A’lin Gra’eme arrives in Gridania. Wide eyed after helping a woman since her initial departure. She does some odd jobs, and ends up meeting two odd travelers. She also finds a deep blue crystal and has a vision of a mounain made of crystal floating in a sea of nothingness.

26.2: Continued odd jobs around Gridania. Part MSQ part Archer quests from 1-30, and maybe just some goofing around. Whatever happens happens.

26.3: A’lin protects one of Gridania’s trees from an Ixal attempt to scar it, along with facing down an Ascian. As thanks, she is given a role in a celebration. As words are spoken, she suffers another vision. That of the Calamity from the point of view of the heads of the Alliance. Because of this, Kan-e-senna decides it is time to reform it, and has Lin be the one in charge of the deliveries.

26.4: A’lin meets Rakka as she goes around helping out the states with some little problems. They get along well. Rakka ends up getting the attention of a Free Company by the name of “The Marchers of Eorzea,” while Lin herself gets notice of a group that is an open secret among those who know enough.The Scions of the Seventh Dawn. They help her understand the odd visions she has from time to time. She also reunites with her uncle A’aba, both overjoyed to see the other again. During their talks, A’aba learns there’s something wrong with her. While she has all the same memories as before, and seems to be the same girl who disappeared before the calamity, her reactions to certain memories are wrong. While he loves her all the same, it does make him question just what cosmic entities changed her.

During this month, she also gets sent on something that she thought was little more than a fun test of her skills, but ends up felling a primal, and finding an orange crystal that connects with her in the same way.

26.5 This is where the Sylph filler (And crystal) and Little Ala Mhigo filler fit in. Rakka and two other Marchers, Ikarus and Eterna, help her with these dungeons.

26.6 30-50 BRD quests. Titan. Another Crystal. And the attack on the Waking sands. The death of her uncle being what drives her away ultimately as she helps out a man named Marquez at a church.

26.7 Alphinaud showing up again. Meeting Haurchefant (And sleeping with him, and the beginnings of their mutual crushes) Stone Vigil (Again with her friends), The fifth crystal. Garuda and the final one.

26.8 Operation Archon, though this takes up little more than a week. The Marchers officially make her one of them, even though she’s a bit different. A’lin decides to make up an excuse to see Haurchefant again, given her growing crush. Meeting Estinien, him briefly losing the fight to Nidhogg. 

26.9 The Crystal Tower. She meets an excitable Miqo’te scholar two years her junior, and deals with some lingering aftermath of what came before. In the end, the Miqo’te Archon locks himself in the Tower to keep everyone safe from the issues that lie within.

26.10--27.1: The Seventh Astral Era Quests. Ending with the Bloody Banquet and arriving in Camp Dragonhead. An earlier promise during 2.4 deciding to come to fruition after everything that happened. Marriage. The beginnings of HW, with about a week devoted to each of the branching paths at the beginning.

27.2: The parlay, the raid on the vault, Haurchefant’s death, and then she disappears for a week, struggling with her anger at everything when the one person who seemed to never ask anything of her is gone. (The 30-50 DRK quest)

27.3: The rest of HW 3.0 MSQ. Her testing herself as she continues with both the bow and greatsword (50-60 Job quests for both).

27.4: Alexander with the Marchers, and probably the Mhachi raids and Warring Triad.

27.5: 3.1, and she’s given two gifts, a replica of her husband’s shield and a mammet made by a family friend. The mammet has some eccentricities a few people notice, but all dismiss as something to do with her Echo The truth is that Haurchefant’s soul is there. Lin is convinced that the voice she and only she hears is just some form of madness, but enjoys herself and decides to give in to the eccentricities. 3.2 and 3.3 follow soon after, though this probably follows into 27.6

27.6-27.9: With Nidhogg finally excised, Lin disappears again. She did not win without scars, and hearing about a journey of remembrance, she sets off with just her mammet and greatsword. During this time, she meets an odd man by the name of M”yrr Sohl. While he appears vaguely Miqo’te, with a tail, he wears a mask and hood. She calls out that his name is not a proper Seeker one, and in her haste, discovers he’s a Griffon-like race from Gyr Abania. One she thought was only myth. They somehow end up as friends, and she points him to the Marchers. He departs after she sleeps, but delivers a message to Haurchefant, that A’lin will only believe that his soul has returned when she loses the last of her hope in herself.

27.10: The post-dragonsong MSQ finishes up this month.

27.10-28.0: Stormblood’s launch MSQ. As M’yrr said, Lin does not believe Haurchefant is anything more than her own madness and grief until she nearly throws herself off the Royal Menagerie and he calls out to her, his voice from her Alliance linkpearl, as Alphie and Aymeric talk about how the mammet is glitching and trying to attack their ears. The Marchers (now with M’yrr), help her fell Shinryu, but when everyone cheers her on, Lin is lost.

28.1: The DRK quest first. Myste is not just her, but a prison for Haurchefant’s soul. After the fight, Haurchefant’s soul is returned to the mammet (Which was put under his father’s care), while it seems others are now aware of him, Lin and Haurchefant have a long talk where she says that her inability to let go must have been in part due to what went on. Together, they agree it’s better for him to return to the Aethereal Sea, though he promises that should she ever need him again, she need only keep the mammet close and he’ll be there. Then over a week, she helps out Sanson and Guydelot in the honeymoon, I mean, with an idiot who wants to start another war. Also, this is the beginning of the Omega quests.

28.2 Omega quests continue, with maybe some breaks for the Ivalice raids. Both are done with the Marchers, and she’s in better spirits after all this, so she returns and says she’s the Warrior of Light no longer to the Scions, so while she’ll help them, she’s not a weapon and needs a title with her name. They agree on Lin of the Dawn.

28.3-28.4 The Post-stormblood stuff. The Four Lords questline does not happen, given it needs to start after a certain point in 4.2, and the time between patches feels too tight to really include it.

28.5 Shadowbringers MSQ. While it technically takes place over 2 months from Lin’s point of view, when she returns to the source, only one week has passed.

Hm... I feel like I could tighten this some, even though on first past I noticed I skipped a month. I know it was intended as more time for that, but it doesn’t fit as well.
