NAME: The Child, The Cosmic Child and more recently Peter Pan SPECIES: elder god GENDER: wholly indifferent to the concept and will respond to male/female pronouns (mun will refer to them by they/their pronouns and will take it as a kindness if you do as well)
APPEARANCE
The Child is a shapeshifter, a god so old and powerful they never felt the need for a name. Their eyes, hair, skin all change according to their mood. But these remain constant- they appear roughly seven years old with all their baby teeth intact. They dress in discarded or lost clothes, sometimes crafting outfits from leaves and other scraps.
RELATIONSHIPS
FAMILY: unknown
PERSONALITY
A child that is forever innocent and amazed at the world but also mischievous. The Child is in constant need of attention and novelty but like any child possesses a profound capacity for love, tenderness, and sense of fair play.
NEED TO KNOWS
I write Peter as an elder god, born when the first child who died prematurely was mourned. They were never ‘human’ in any traditional sense. THAT SAID I do actually think it's important they be allowed at some point to grow up and change so as to become a more nuanced deity.
ON THE NEVER LAND- Essentially its a kind of limbo where the souls of dead or lost children go before they move on. Its appearance and residents are dictated by the dreams/fantasies/fears of those children and any other humans who wander through it.
For RPing purposes, this means you are free to dictate how it looks based on your own muses’ dreams/fantasies/fears
The ‘fairies’ of the Never Land are actually old gods who are on the verge of being forgotten. Peter calls them fairies because they like how the word sounded. They’re like that.
On names- For most of their existence they were known only as The Child or The Cosmic Child usually only taking on names when it amused them. They took the name ‘Pan’ after seeing the god Hermes mourn their son of the same name. ‘Peter’ was given to them by Wendy who insisted everyone has at least two names.
SPEAKING OF WENDY- She and her brothers were neither lost nor dead. Peter took them to the Never Land because they enjoyed Wendy’s creativity in storytelling and wanted something ‘new’ in their country. (Peter isn’t capable of original creation). They consider her their best friend and I do headcanon that their friendship with her is what leads Peter to want to grow up.
