Godly Ability - Remi has the power of darkness solidification. She has the ability to take darkness/shadow and use them as either weapons or to bind someone in place. 

No matter how painful it is, your past defines a part of who you are.

Jarvis Bellamy didn’t sign up to be a single father. All he’d done was have a one night stand with a hot woman he met at a concert one night, and the next thing he knew she was showing up on his doorstep with a newborn baby. After questioning the paternity and saying some Jerry Springer level shit out of anger, Jarvis accept the little girl. He’d tried for a few weeks, but even though the man was closer to thirty than twenty, the maturity level was somewhere in the teens. There was no connection to the child which he blamed on not being there through the pregnancy, and he saw little Remi as more of a burden than a beauty. So, after too many nights of crying while he tried to sleep, Jarvis dropped the little girl off at the nearest fire station. 

Remi was only three months old, and the only paperwork provided was her birth certificate that said her name, date of birth, and who her mother was. Although, when local authorities tried to find a woman by the name of Francesca Ramos, but none of the women they found were DNA matches for the little girl. So, with a heavy heart, the baby was put into the system as property of the state of North Carolina. 

Unknowingly to the little girl, Nyx was not at all pleased with the actions of the little girl’s father. Her daughter was left alone when she was most vulnerable which couldn’t happen, so she was forced to appear yet again to adopt the baby girl. It was simple enough to go through the process of another identity in order to gain custody of the girl, but after the whole process was done, she knew she had to leave once again. Although it pained her to do so, Nyx left her now one year old daughter with Adrianne Maldonado. The woman was one who still heavily followed Nyx and believed in the goddess, and she vowed to give Remi the best life possible. 

Years past, and growing up was pretty normal for Remi. She was in a home where she was loved and happy. Adrianne discovered early on that her little girl had an affinity for dance, so she made sure to put Remi in training early on. The girl was a sponge for all dance forms. After beginning with traditional ballet, she moved on to contemporary, jazz, and eventually even hip hop. 

It wasn’t until she was seventeen that Remi noticed there was something strange about herself. When she was walking home from her summer job at the movie theater late one night, she noticed a girl in trouble. From what she could see it looked like she was receiving unwanted attention or maybe being robbed, and Remi had no idea what to do. It wasn’t until she heard a scream that she acted without even realizing it. Her hands moved forward on their own accord, and with them the shadows seemed to move to grab the men and hold them still. She couldn’t hold it too long though, so she told the woman to run. When her energy drained, Remi quickly got in her car and sped off. 

That evening when she got home, Remi told Adrienne everything that happened which was when the seventeen year old was told who her mother truly was. Honestly, the teen looked at her mom like she was crazy. Sure, Nyx was someone they worshipped in their home, but to hear that woman was her mother? That was quite a lot. She went to bed that evening with her mind swirling in disbelief. That night Nyx came to her in her dreams and told Remi that all she’d been told was true. There were facts thrown in that made too hard to ignore, so the next morning she went to her mom to learn more. That was when she learned of Icaria, but she decided to go to college first. She’d been offered a full ride on a scholarship to Duke University for dance which she wanted to do first. 

Her college years were some of the best years of her life. She’d experienced love, heartbreak, friendships, and a free spirited life style that could only really happen in college. She’d decided to major in dance and minor in education, and after taking three years to teach dance at a high school back home, the woman was ready to make the move to Icaria. 

Dance like no one is watching.

Remi is free spirited, kind, but mysterious. After getting her heart broken by a woman she thought was her best friend, she doesn’t like dating people she puts in the “friend zone.” She thinks it’s twice as painful to lose the lover and friendship. 

When she’s not dancing, Remi can often be found watching anime, reading a book, or exploring food. She is a self proclaimed foodie and absolutely loves discovering new favorite spots with people. 

Family is incredibly important to Remi. While her father was a deadbeat she didn’t even bother wasting thoughts on, she did care greatly for her foster ma’s family. The woman had worked hard to give Remi absolutely everything, and while Adrianne asked for nothing in return, the woman was determined to always care for her. 

Remi is the dance at theater teacher at Icaria High School.

IDEAL WAY TO SPENT A SATURDAY

Wake up and eat breakfast, usually a french toast stick and a glass of apple juice. If I'm not working, I like to hang out at the book store or the record store. Then, lunch, got to have lunch. Later in the day a nature walk and end the day stargazing. With dinner also. Can't forget dinner. Maybe also a dessert somewhere in there.

GREEN FLAGS

Not sure that I like actually have a green flag. I'm kind of a mess, but uh, I try really hard? And I care a lot? Maybe that's something. Is that something? Maybe.

SOMETHING PEOPLE MISUNDERSTAND

I can definitely come across like a certain way, but I'm a lot smarter than I come off. At least, I think I am. At certain things. Maybe not everything, but some stuff.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS

Space is like, my most favorite hobby. Stargazing, learning about space, reading about space, all of it. Reading in general, I like reading fantasy books. Thrifting is fun.

FEELINGS ON MARRIAGE / KIDS

I'm still like super young, but I mean, I'd get married tomorrow if I knew it was the right person. And I love kids, so like, yeah. Totally in on the kids thing. I think. I mean, I'm a really fun aunt, but a mom? I don't know. Maybe I'm not ready. Someday, though, like, I think I could be ready. Probably.

&& the breakdown

Remi is one of the younger Elliot siblings and grew up in a loud house full of siblings. They were pretty much her best friends and often only friends growing up. She was a bit of a weirdo and has always had a tough time connecting with other people.

School growing up was tough, she got bullied a lot and struggled to fit in, so even still she is a bit anxious around people she doesn't know well and often relies on her siblings to drag her into meeting people.

She was basically adopted into being a best friend by a newcomer to town in high school and they took her under their wing and helped her integrate more at school. Which, Remi basically will fall in love with any woman that's nice to her, so she was absolutely smitten from that point on.

When looking at colleges, Remi had her choice of basically any school she wanted, with full ride offers from big name schools like MIT and Harvard. But, she turned all of those down to follow her best friend to a smaller school in a big city because ~love sick puppy.

It didn't take long in college before her bestie found new friends, new love, and a new life that she just didn't quite fit into. The fantasy romance she'd built up in her head was shattered and she was considering dropping out of school.

But she met a new friend in one of her classes that was a complete ball of energy and she got swept up in the dream once again. The friend suggested they drop out to go backpacking with a group that did scientific research in the Andes mountains and Remi didn't hesitate to say yes.

Remi spent close to a year in Peru with the group before her new friend got married on a whim and left, leaving Remi with no choice but to crawl back to Kismet to live with family for awhile again.

She was home for another year before she got roped into the idea of getting into yachting with another friend. So, she packed up once more and shipped out to sea to work as a stewardess on a luxury yacht. From there she bounced around between charter seasons at sea and being home in Kismet for a few years.

On one of her yachting jobs she met a family that was looking for a tutor for their kids and someone to help look after their house and Remi ended up taking them up on the offer. She moved to France with the family and was there until just a few weeks ago.

Remi made the mistake, once again, of falling for her employer and when things spiraled out of control and the husband found out, Remi was promptly fired and has now found her way back to live on Riley's couch.

She found a job working at the Cobblestone Cafe as a barista for now and has toyed with the idea of going back to school to finish a degree.

Space and science and everything about it is her obsession in life and she's always dreamed of being an astronaut and going out to space.

You'll find her doodling and sketching random sciencey things almost all the time and her brain is constantly thinking in math. She's incredibly intelligent, but crippled by her inability to function when pretty women are nice to her.

&& the wanted connections

high school best friend; this would be someone that moved to kismet around the time that they started high school. they're probably way more socially adept and cool compared to remi, but they adopted her as their best friend and that was that. remi had a big time thing for her all through high school but never said anything about it. remi moved with her to wherever they went to college and they drifted apart there.

friends through her siblings; she's not great at making friends herself, so she kind of clings to her siblings a lot as a source of social interactions. she's the little sibling that tagged along all the time to hang out and was just kind of around so she probably has several friends through that. or at least people she considers friends but to them she's just their friend's kid sister.

stargazing friend; remi is out every night more or less doing some kind of stargazing from somewhere cool in town. would love to have someone that gets just as excited about space as she does that would hang around and chat science with her or just listen to her ramble on about random scientific phenomenon.

childhood bullies; she wasn't bullied terribly, but definitely was the butt of many a joke growing up. this could be someone that instigated a lot of it or people that just joined in, but remi probably has a bad taste in her mouth about them just from the past.
