You can never really tell what life has planned for you and no one knows that better than Simone Peretz. Born Giselle Cohen, Simone moved to the U.S when she was just two years old, becoming a citizen when she was eight. Her parents had wanted a new life and they gave their daughter everything that they could afford.
Giselle was an outgoing girl, always trying to make friends and know people. She was sixteen when she met the man who would go on to be her first husband and nineteen when she married him. She wanted the whole thing, marriage, love, but he turned dark pretty quickly after they married.
Their marriage lasted six years and Giselle hated every single day of it. He would hurt her physically, and mentally, and whenever she tried to leave him things would never go to plan. He was into some shady business and someone would always bring her home. It took everything she had one day to go to the police, reporting everything about what her husband did-- including all of his underground activity.
She testified against him in court, everything that she knew came out on the table and soon enough her husband and several of his men (including one she had been having an affair with) were sentenced to life in jail. Her husband was later killed in jail.
The problem was that some of them were still around and now out for blood so Giselle found herself in the Witness Protection Program, Giselle Cohen becoming Simone Peretz.
Simone is an art collector, consultant to an incredibly rich man who she genuinely enjoys working for. She doesn’t want her past to come back for her ever, but there’s always that feeling it will.
