My early unhinged DE posting makes me laugh a lot
Been a hot second, how about a new pinned post!
Syb (she/her) @sybilius on here and on Ao3. I write fanfiction and draw fan art, and I love Disco Elysium!
My mainship is Harry/Jean/Kim, tagged #cop apocalypse ot3 on here. I have passionate love for Jean Vicquemare, and I talk a lot about Jean/Kim simply because I think they could have a great dynamic. I played Disco Elysium pre-TFC, and I’m a fan of Dot Major’s voice acting for Jean.
Short and silly bullet points on my main works:
a thin whisper, an amateur-radio centric canon-divergence epic I collaborated with @dansedan on. The story is very Kim/Jean focused and is complete at two works, concluding with the end of Disco Elysium.
would you believe, a mathematician AU I wrote to Disco Elysium. Canon close, also Harry/Jean/Kim
A series of Kim/Jean focused Harry/Jean/Kim fics which are mostly about feelings and mutual support
My early Harry/Kim Disco Elysium fic, mainly Kim character study (he...Lieutenant Kitsuragi...I would die for him...)
And that’s about it for me! Thanks for dropping by, and feel free to drop me an ask and tell me what you’re working on! Always hype to see new DE fanworks!
sybil-writes writeblr introduction
It’s been a hot few seconds, how is everyone?
QUICK BIO
My name is Syb (she/her), white cis adult Canadian, bisexual and polyamorous. I write queer fiction of various genres (mystery, romance-adjacent, literary-adjacent), and fanfiction. I am also an artist (more as a hobby), and I work in physics as my day job.
ABOUT MY WRITING
My main genres skew towards slightly darker queer fiction. My preference is towards character-focused work, and I tend to play fast and loose with worldbuilding. I usually try to reach for unusual moments of catharsis between characters, and I tend to favor writing good endings for characters, but their peace is often hard-won.

ADMINISTRATA
I follow from @sybilius. My tags for my own content shared on here are #syb writing for original writing, #syb art for my original art, #syb fic for my fanfiction, and #syb moodboard for moodboards.
I participate in #CreativeLifeUpdate, and occasionally #STS, but lately my Saturdays have been pretty busy. I believe very strongly in feedback culture/supporting others work. My tag #others writings is positive reblogs, and #syb reviews are longer-form comments.
Below you can read a little more that basically amounts to a DNI.

When I made my blog: This year, February or January I think?
Followers: 306 (Nice!! I keep wanting to do milestone events and getting stuck on them, lol.)
Why I made my blog: Desire to connect with more people doing original writing, and some notions that I need practice in the skill-set of self promotion and cultivating an audience if I’m really going to go for it with this novel :)
Reason for my URL: I wanted my writing account to be explicitly connected with my fanfiction writing -- sybil is for Sybilius, my pseud on Ao3. When I publish, it’ll be under a different name that is not my own, but I still want to be up-front about the fact that I’m a fanfic writer and proud :)
I tag @girlfriendsofthegalaxy, @writingonesdreams, @thewalkingnerdx, @a-place-of-babble, @caitwritesstuff, if you want to go for it!
Happy STS! Do you find it easier to write characters you relate to, or ones who are very different from you?
Happy STS!!! Thanks for the ask :)
I would say ones that are very different from me are easier. I like and do occasionally write about ones who are similar to me, but almost always as a secondary character. The one time I was writing about a character who is similar to me as a main was for Wolf 359, Minkowski. And that had its challenges, because I was quite sharply emotionally aware that like “hey, this is what I would be doing in that situation. wow.”
Like many writers, for characters that are quite different from me I still end up finding an angle to relate to them on. Usually it’s like, they get one of my personality traits but turned up to unrecognizable levels. Tweechik Angel Eyes was fun to write for that reason, cause he got “my tiny god complex, but turned up 10 000%.”
The most cathartic characters to write about are probably ones that are in between -- for me, ‘in between’ means “responds to situations similar to how I would, but has had a handful of experiences that make them quite a different person than I am in a lot of ways”. So 70s AU Angel Eyes fits the bill quite nicely there. He has my control issues turned up to 11 with a side of paranoia, but also the same kind of empathy/listening response that I cherish. So there’s a lot I can vent on to him while writing, without it feeling too much like dumping my soul on to the page :)
I was tagged by @sapphospouse , thank!!! And what great taste in music you have!
