Is it weird that I'd like to see more caretakers with disabilities? Just. Disabled people in literally any position but the whumpees honestly. Caretakers with chronic pain. Whumpers with wheelchairs. Let my mans with anxiety still be able to take care of others while anxious. Idk just. Not helpless disabled people please?

I just watched The Return with Richard Harmon and it has pretty good whump. Only near the end though. But Richard looks stunning in it so if you're a fan I definitely recommend to watch the entire movie. It's said horror movie but it's barely scary. If the trailer didn't scared you the movie won't either.

There’s a huge misconception when a non-whumper reads whump that the writer hates the character they’re hurting. I’ve often gotten comments asking me why I hate the particular character that got tortured or hurt in the fic they clicked on. The weird thing about whump is that we do it to characters we love. Whump isn’t character bashing. There’s no fun in hurting a character you dislike. It seems odd to people, but we show our love of the characters by putting them in humiliating and painful situations. If we didn’t love them, they wouldn’t be suffering.

i am going to be attempting to remember to use some new tags! they are going to be "sir or master" (as in the whumper or caretaker is referred to as sir or master), "extreme power dynamics" (where the whumpee is so powerless that they can only obey or show respect no matter what), and "institutionalized dehumanization" (for universes where slavery, human pets, boxboys, etc are commonplace and there's virtually no escape for the whumpee). this is all stuff that's got the same vibe as pet whump, but which might not specifically be labelled pet whump. so any marlow content where sir is referred to will be tagged "sir or master", and so on! i hope this helps folks avoid the stuff that makes them uncomfortable.

Anonymous: heya ;-) I just read you post and I'm like - yeah, that sums up my feelings, too?! also, and I don't know if others feel like this too, I feel rather protective of women/lady crushes. Like, I want the opposite of whump, all of a sudden. thank you so much for starting this discussion! It's good to know you feel the same thing! At least I am not just imaging stuff, then. I've read the notion around here that maybe woman-whump is less attractive to some people because it's somehow 'too real'. The connection to real-life abuse is more easily made. Also, women are more often allowed (or even supposed) to be vulnerable, which makes for a less interesting watch. I'm not sure if this is the whole reason for me, but it could be a part of it? ( @mypoorfaves mentioned something similar).
