*chef's kiss* It's about the nostalgia. 😘👌 But no, aside from the gorgeous gothic love story, romantic in only the bloodiest, most old-fashioned sense of the word, what brings me back around to Hannibal over and again are the fond memories I have attached to the character of Dr. Lecter. I've been nicking Thomas Harris novels off my mother's nightstand to read since I had to do half my reading between classes in grade school. There was nothing else like them out there. Until this show premiered, that is.
While I admittedly haven't watched The Borgias with more than one eye since right around the time it first came out, I've turned it on and left it playing over my shoulder to serve as a visually and auditorily sumptuous feast of a distraction from otherwise tedious household chores as recently as yesterday. I mean, *gestures* look at that. Every single frame is like a Botticelli come to life. It’s really something to see. 👼 🎨🖌️
Oh, North and South has 🖤E V E R Y T H I N G💚 one could ask for in a period piece. Atmospheric cinematography, picture perfect costume and makeup, a sweeping soundtrack... breathlessly tender touches shared between two trembling hands, lovelorn looks held long enough to burn themselves into the soul, harsh words spoken in haste that once flown can never be called back. *sighs dreamily* It's even got burgeoning class consciousness in both the leads(!). If you haven’t seen this one yet, give yourself a gift and get hold of a copy. You deserve it. 😉👉
I've got a few of my own little arguments with this American AU take on the Holmes canon, sure, same as anyone has with any adaptation. But damned if Jonny Lee Miller doesn't turn in a touchingly humanistic portrayal of Holmes, and Lucy Liu an inspiringly steel-spined Watson.

This one's a bit of a cheat, I know, seeing as it's not a show so much as a showcase. But hear me out: there's something about KOTOR's ambient spaceship sounds in particular (and those alien language dialogue loops!) that puts me right to sleep in fifteen minutes flat. Every time I’ve tried to watch it, without fail. Seriously. It’s reliable enough that I've been using this let's play as an occasional insomnia remedy for years now. So Livershot187, if you’re out there... thanks for the ZZZs lmao~ 😴🙏 💙💤
