I still haven't seen love, Simon, but my love Simon is coming out and im,,,,,,,, shook???
19) About Ray ❤❤❤❤❤ out of 5❤s Every minute of this movie gives me life, meaning. It's not your typical LGBTQ movie. It is more than a social issue. It's about a parent. It's about a child. It's about their relationship with each other. Powerhouse Naomi Watts and Susan Sarandon. And who would have ever thought, Elle Fanning? They are all amazing and played their parts as if they experienced "it". This movie just reminded me that a mother's love is unconditional. No forms, no definitions, just love. Watts, I felt her frustrations, her joy, every minute of her in this movie, I adore. 😭 Fanning, I felt her pain. A pain that cannot be defined by words, but I saw it in her, I felt it with her. In the world where He and She labels are important, the struggle of a minor seeking for freedom is really difficult. #MovieLog #AboutRay #transition #LGBTQ 🏳️🌈
I watched 3 Generations (2015), which at some point was going to be titled About Ray but they stuck to the original title. I have mixed feelings about it. I often look for film stills and screenshots on Tumblr and when I was looking for photos from this film I found a lot of posts from the trans community supporting the film and also not supporting- boycotting the film. And I understand where both sides are coming from, from what I read. On one hand casting actors who are well known and good actors gave the film certain attention that may not have been there if the cast was unknown. On the other hand representation would have been better if a trans male was actually cast in the role of Ray or even a part of the production. I also read an interview with the director and it seemed like she was initially going to make a film about three generations of women living in the same house and got the idea from a friend who knew someone or was going through transitioning, and the director decided to add that to the story. I'm not sure how much research was done and whether they talked to trans people, specifically trans males. There were also a couple posts I read on Tumblr that seemed a lot more furious about the film, its lack of representation, and inaccuracies. I see that perspective and respect those feelings, but at the same time those posts didn't enlighten me on why that person felt that way, and what more specifically was wrong with the movie or could have been done better for the trans community. Too much ranting and not enough information or explanation. So my thoughts are a little all over the place with this film; as well as, it has been a couple days since watching it and I am distracted by other things going on right now. #3Generations #ThreeGenerations #AboutRay #Film #Movie #30Days30Films #ElleFanning #NaomiWatts #SusanSarandon https://www.instagram.com/p/ByoUZ1xl9Gh/?igshid=3yfjk1a9l1fa
