Jane stood backed against the counter at the gun range. She watched the way the honey colored locks touched Maura's shoulders. How could Maura forget that she would always be there for her? Jane sighed as she smiled showing Maura her dimples. Now was the time. She couldn't hide her true feelings any longer. It was in that exact moment that she promised herself she would tell Maura just how loved and desired she truly was. The lanky detective stood to her full height. "Even though you're a hoarder and a pretty damn good shot, you know I'm always here for you."
Strong arms engulfed Maura's small frame and pulled her close. Jane felt caught off guard at how soft her best friend was. How they fit together seamlessly. Her breath was shaky, but she nuzzled her head against the top of Maura's before pulling back. "Let me make it up to you." Jane's voice was low and raspy as she awkwardly looked to the floor before looking up. Here was this beautiful woman standing in front of her and she was nervous. Everything could easily backfire, but she decided she would continue with the plan. "Meet me at my apartment in an hour?" There was something different on Jane's face. A nervousness, but it was excitement too. "Don't be late."
Rizzoli was about to walk away before she reached for Maura's hand and squeezed the smaller one inside the palm of her larger one. There were no words needed as Jane walked out to the cruiser in a pure panic. She had so many things to do, but she was more determined than ever before to let Maura know how much she meant to her. Jane would lie awake and think about feeling Maura curled up in her arms. She would do anything to make sure the medical examiner was protected. She was undeniably in love with Maura.
The brunette stopped by the florist first. She bought Maura a bouquet of roses, and smiled to herself as she decided to stop for one of her favorite bottles of wine; even if it was a hundred dollars. Jane's last stop was for take out Italian from their favorite place. It was pasta, cannolis and a salad. She rushed up the stairs to her apartment as she checked her watch. Maura would be there in less than fifteen minutes.
Jane quickly changed into a nice black button down shirt and threw on a pair of skinny jeans. She set the table and opened the wine to let it breathe. Her anxiety was building as she waited on Maura. Surely, this wasn't a terrible mistake. Jane was so used to bottling her feelings, but seeing Maura so saddened earlier had forced her to take action. Tonight, Maura would know how she felt. That she wanted nothing more than to kiss her, to hold her, and to make her feel more loved than any other person on earth ever had.
