spending time with her family had never been the brunettes favourite thing to do ( she was a target for scrutiny ), but when her sister had invited her over after she’d been living oversea’s, niamh decided it was time to put her pride behind her & face the music. ‘ yes, mum, ------- he’s fine. i have a school picked out. he STILL knows who you are, yeah. ’ these were questions she had to answer every time she brought her son to visit the family, enquiries she found to be somewhat dumb with an obvious answer ; but she knew she’d brought it on herself. if her son ever grew up to move to another country & took her grand-kids with him, she’d be worried all the time ( & a little bit furious ). with the little boy entertaining himself on the floor, the female allowed herself to fit comfortably in the chair ; eyes rolling with every subtle insult that was sent her way. niamh was the problem child in her family, the one who had a child out of wedlock to a man who’s surname she didn’t even know, ------ opposed to her seemingly perfect sister, the one currently engaged & presumed innocent by her parents. once she heard a knock on the door, she’s quick to swipe the child from the floor & hold him close ( MATERNAL nature taking over ), before heading over to the front of the house to meet her soon to be brother-in-law. a look of confusion decorated her features upon hearing the strangers voice, a familiar but nervous feeling settling in her gut. when he rounded the corner & into her eyesight, niamh felt her world shift beneath her, ------- shit. the same man she’d ran out on after a one night stand exactly two years & nine months ago, now introducing himself as her sister’s fiance. shaking his hand all the same, she composed herself in record time ( after sharing glances between jaspar & the baby on her hip ). ‘ i’m niamh, it’s nice to meet you. ’
